But the only reason we know most of that is because we all look at spoilers.

they did keep "created by Theresa Rebeck" it just wasn't in the opening. I was really impressed with the opening hour. They quickly handled the departure of Dev & Michael, probably better to have both of those handled off screen. Poor Brian D'Arcy James, he deserved so much better than the character of Frank, glad he's had the success of Giant. Ending the first hr with Jeremy Jordan was awesome, and he killed Broadway, Here I Come.

Here is an in-depth interview with new showrunner Joshua Safran about the new season. I'm looking forward to the creative changes and to see all the new original music from that impressive list of composers!

Watched the first hour on iTunes last night and thought it was a mess. Sad, because I was hoping they'd get their sh*t together this season. Hopefully the second hour and the rest of the season are better. I was let down.

I'd read before he'd be back in some regard to wrap up his storyline.

I liked him as a character too, though Daniel Day-Lewis he is not - except when he's next to Katharine McPhee, naturally.

I watched the preview last night and I dug it, but I dug the first season, too, flaws and all. And I maintain I'm still the only person in America for whom Julia's scarves never even registered.

The opening lyrics, "I know I've kept you waiting, I know I've mad you mad" made me laugh, and I thought it was a clever nod to the audience and reference to the delay in its return all the internet rage the show itself engendered.

Good riddance to Brian D'Arcy James. Blame the writing all you want, but he was always so terrible in this.

Also terrible is Jennifer Hudson, but she's terrible in everything. She had some real doozies of line readings in this episode. It's like she's reading them off cue cards and has never seen these words before in any context in her life.

I guess what was maybe the most surprising is that I found Karen infinitely less irritating than she was last year. Hopefully that will continue. I'm still Team Ivy 4-EVA, but I'm still optimistic maybe I won't hate Karen as much this year.

The only thing I found odd, was Tom's comment about being single.

That stuck out to me to, for the same reasons. It's not like a tour means Sam will never ever return to New York. I'd say good riddance to Sam, too, with his smug superiority last year about how "his way" of dating was the superior way of being gay and the way he stuck his nose in the Tom/Julia situation in the premiere, but I have a feeling their story isn't over. Plus, Sam TOTALLY seems like the long distance relationship type.

I think this show is always going to divide people, but even as someone who really enjoyed season one, I thought there was clarity and focus to this episode that missing in ones prior. I'm ready for this to come back!

Can't wait for the next one!

I want this season to do BOMBSHELL, yes, but I really want to see a new musical in there. Is there a thread discussion anywhere about possible new SMASH musicals and who the composers could be?
I vote Scott Allen. And the show would be called ________ (fill in the blank)

There are already multiple new musicals set for this season. One is "Hit List" created by Jimmy and Kyle (Jeremy Jordan and Andy Mientus) and the other is some reimagined version of "Dangerous Liasons" which is where Sean Hayes will come into play

I have a feeling that Jeremy Jordan's character will be just as painful as Ellis was for me, if I continue to watch.

Love SMASH, LOVE HILTY, i even grew to like Kat McPhee..... but Jennifer Hudson blaaaahhhh.in the ads ive seen she has equal billing with the other leads, and shes in only 3 episodes. what a slap in the face to the other actors.
Oh and does anyone think JHUD will be anything but "SASSY"?

I love that they had Ivy apologize to Karen...but in the real world what she did is not forgivable..(dev thing) and if I were Karen I would have just said FU...but it seemed genuin due to Meg really nailing the scent..(love her ) but to see that Karen will not be in Bombshell is crazy and after she killed it in Boston supposedly I dont understand why the songwriter would still think she wasnt good enough ..I find him to be the most annoying character and becuase his BF is on tour they break up..and another crazy thing..if Angelica Houstons BF is in the "MOB" do you think a producer (her ex husband) would have the balls to take him out...come on....at least make some of this a little bit believable

Entertainment Tonight just released a new clip of Megan Hilty singing a new "Bombshell" number and I LOVE it!

I saw the first hour of the new episode on "on demand". I liked it. I don't know what it is (maybe lighting), but Megan Hilty looked splotchy and Debra Messing and Bryan D'Arcy James didn't look very good.

Phyllis, this is the one TV show we can agree on- except for that "Ivy-4Eva" BS and you'll grow out of that!

I too watched the first hour and loved it. The opening song was perfect and Tom's "Oh, I'm single now!" seemed TOTALLY unmotivated. I did like J Hud's song from the show she's in but her acting is ATROCIOUS with a capital ATRO.

That new clip of Hilty is FANTASTIC!

Glad season 2 is already offering multiple opportunities for Megan to show up Katharine "Dead Eyes" McPhee

To Dottie, I totally agree with you about Megan not looking good. I don't know what they do to her on this show because in real life she is absolutely GORGEOUS but on this show I swear they try to make her look less attractive as another way to subliminally elevate Kat McPhee in our minds. There were times last year I could have killed that hair and make up team for what they did to poor Megan.

Oh and one more thing I saw the first 3 eps in their entirety and Megan singing the "moving the line" song from top to bottom is even more phenomenal than that clip shows. My God Karen who?
