Is anyone going to the first preview of Leap of Faith tomorrow night or the invited dress tonight (assuming there is one?)
I'm a huge Menken fan and am looking forward to hearing how the show differs from La after several re-writes.

raladony- The balcony is VERY HIGH! It is a great view, but many don't like how high it is. I am personally fine with it and there are some theatres with worse.

So excited to be going tonight! Raúl Esparza is so good at everything he does, Sondheim included. Loved him in Company and Rocky Horror. I hear amazing things about him in this. Can't wait!

Why does this show seem tired to me before it even starts?
I was kinda excitd about it 6 or so years ago.

Really interested to hear how this is... I wonder if any big changes were made to the set.

I hope it's a success. All this talk about it squeezing in at the last second, etc. I hope it all wasn't for naught.

I will second what was said about the balcony at the St. James. The last time I sat up there was for Gypsy. However, I still remember feeling that the staircase leading up to the balcony never seemed to end. The view wasn't that bad, it was the never ending staircase that was the issue.

Joan Bennet you seemed to have made up your mind about the show before seeing it!

Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist. Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino. This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more. Tazber's: Reply to Is Stephen Schwartz a Practicing Christian

Really heartbroken to be out of town for this. I probably won't be reading any reports because I want to stay in the dark about the revisions and specifics until I see the show for myself over the summer, but I hope everybody has a great time, and that this is, finally, everything the show deserves to be.

Well, Producer Daryl Roth WAS the driving force, the one who put together THE NORMAL HEART last season... rather quickly and you know what happened with that one... Leap Of Faith Previews

I was there.... I am still a bit stunned. WTF was that? I wasn't moved. I couldn't have cared less about the characters. For a composer who produced some amazingly memorable scores I am finding it absolutely impossible to remember a single tune and I just left the theater. This show will need a miracle. Even reworking it is going to be difficult to imagine.

I did like the set. At times the lighting was well done. Choreography was energetic.

For one last laughable moment my suspension of disbelief was broken by.... The price of gas! One set was at a gas station showing that gas cost $3.99 The show took place over three days and by the end of the show...three days later...the price of gas had still not gone up!

Feel bad for all involved because a lot of work went into the show but it just isn't working.

What is laughable about $3.99 for gas? The current average price of gas in Kansas is about $3.75, and prices are stable. The most expensive gas in the entire state is $3.99. And in a small town like Sweetwater, they wouldn't get a delivery between Friday and Monday so there's no reason to change the price. And even if they did, that doesn't automatically mean the price would change.

Kind of agree with Brian07663NJ. There were some nice moments, but the story felt disjointed and there were quite a few plot points that seemed to just come out of nowhere.

I was also racking my brain during the first act, trying to remember what wearing a red hanky in your right pocket meant, since that's where Raul's always was.

I was there tonight, and I agree with Brian. Raul was good in the role, but the problem is I didn't care about him or any of the other characters. I had the same problem with Catch Me If You Can. The book is very cliched and weak, IMHO, and nothing that we haven't seen before in various other works. I didn't care for the sets. Having a live cameraman during the revival scenes was distracting for me and served no purpose other than to display the action on various monitors throughout the house. The score is forgettable.
