I can see how that would happen. He's just so charming, that he can almost cover it up. I think that because he wasn't always such an actor, if there wasn't a fairly good relationship offstage, it showed -- if we're talking romantic chemistry, anyway. But, even when I saw him do a 10 minute straight play, that was so improved. Granted, none of his relations were romantic, but he was so gooooood.
I thought Danny Burstein and Beth Leavel in The Drowsy Chaperone was the best comedic duo I'd ever seen (still do). I saw her understudy and the timing was off. The two of them were absolutely perfect together.
Oh dear me, I posted in this thread seven years ago. I'm so embarrassed.
And for the sake of being on topic, Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp are the best on-stage pair I've ever seen, romantic characters and otherwise. Watching them work together is magical.
