Completely baffled by people's love of Matt Doyle.  I find him bland and vanilla and this project only highlights it more.  He sounds nothing like Sinatra and the clips of him singing make me cringe.

Thanks for the link GG.

Considering the Sinatra family is entrenched in this, I'm not surprised the story is skewed, and ultimately doesn't work. Which is too bad. It's Matt's first big starring role and I was rooting for him to succeed. Granted, from the sample reviews I've now read, he has the vocal chops, the crowd likes him, and the supporting cast shines. But performances alone can't make the book a good one.

I think Matt has a terrific voice and would love to see this show heavily doctored. But, I suspect Tina Sinatra will insist on doing it her way.

This is such a funny string of phrases to me.

"There're a lot of plays ahead of us. You get on a long line once they start opening, which they are now, this season is coming up... we'll see what succeeds and what doesn't. Wishing everybody well, but the fewer successes, the more you move up. We are talking to one of the most renowned theaters on Broadway."

Wasn’t this already done as “Come Fly Away” years ago?  It flopped.  Why would this be different and what new audiences would this try to attract ?

COME FLY AWAY was a Twyla Tharp dance show using songs recorded by Frank Sinatra.

This is a Sinatra bio-musical.

The issue with any Sinatra project is his estate (controlled by Tina Sinatra) is overprotective of the more unsavory elements, namely the connections to organized crime. That was rumored to be the reason why Scorsese & DiCaprio had abandoned their long-gestating Sinatra biopic. But now that's allegedly being resurrected and will probably be able to go deeper than this jukebox musical. So for sake of comparison, it would be wise to get this stage musical up before the biopic -- if the biopic ever actually happens.

"We are talking to one of the most renowned theaters on Broadway, and he's got to go to Broadway. West End is too busy, and we'll get there someday. They just have no real estate really."

What does this even mean? You aren't guaranteed a theater, just in line. Just like every other producer in town...

It means "we've met with the theater owners, they've watched our archival video from England, one claims to want to give us a house when they're ready, and now we wait."

So basically it doesn't mean anything. Tina Sinatra is trying to create news out of nothing.

The good news is that narrows it down to about 40 theaters (can you really call the Marquis 'renowned'? 🤪)

Let's be honest everyone. Would you go to musical about Sinatra that the main storyline is he was a scumbag? How about MJ The Musical? Would it still be running if quite a bit of the story was about his child abuse allegations? Of course, these shows are going to be sanitized heavily. They want to sell his personal fame and music. Yes, I think there should be balance in these type of musicals (nobody is a saint) but we should not expect much different than you will get when family member has the rights to how the music is used. Personally, I agree with others that have mentioned this type of musical should concentrate on a certain time period in his life and not his entire career.

As for playing Sinatra it is hard choice for an actor. Do you try to mimic his voice and mannerisms so much that it seems you are doing impersonation instead of acting? He is such an iconic figure so it is not easy choice to make IMO. Will this be a good musical, I doubt it but I guess we shall see.

Seems like everybody and their dog is hoping for a 2025 "opening".  It's too bad they couldn't bet somebody like Michael Bublé or Harry Connick, jr who have been copying Sinatra anyway for years.

I give Tina Sinatra credit for not doing that.

I'm sure those guys wouldn't touch this project with a 10 foot pole.

You know who would have been a great Frank Sinatra? Nick Cordero.
