I try to see every show(not all the special concerts) that opens up on Broadway but ugh I really have no interest in seeing this. My girlfriend will probably be trying to get me to go though hah

I also try to see everything that opens, but I may have to skip on this one.

I know I am not the only one who finds stripping totally ridiculous and so far away from sexy. It is that whole "I am so hot, and I know it, now stick money in my jock" mentality that just puts me off.

I liked the movie a lot, but I imagine them taking out some of the more serious themes and just making the musical a strip show.

Why don't they just call this "Magic Mike: The Bachelorette Party" because you know that is what it will turn into.

It might as well just be a strip show, because you won't hear dialogue or song over the hollering of horny bitches.

^That's a very mean thing to call the New York City Gay Men's Chorus.

I don't have a problem with the stripping or anything, though it's not really my thing. I just didn't think the movie was very good.

Put me down as for this. I'm not so thrilled about a film being adapted to Broadway so soon, but on the other hand, this show could be a hell of a starmaker for many young men. I'd also like it to be a bit more fun than the actual film (one of the best desciptions I've heard of it was a more downbeat Saturday Night Fever).

THE FULL MONTY musical was a great blend of drama, comedy, and eye candy. I love that show! It's hard to imagine MAGIC MIKE being a better 'male stripper' show.

I've seen prepositions misused before, but the title of this thread with "on" being used for "to" makes for a very funny title!

If you go in with low expectations and the ability to mentally block out bad acting (Channing Tatum and that constipated girl who made me appreciate Kristin Stewart), the movie is enjoyable, but what made it flavorful was its sun-hazy/gritty direction, which would be nigh impossible to achieve onstage which leaves you with...what, exactly?

Back when this was first talked about when the movie came out, they said the stage version would be more fun, like a party. Which makes me just assume it would be a more expensive Chippendales show...

Haha, the female lead reminded me of Jennifer Lawrence (minus the talent) crossed with Kristin Stewart.

Don't pretend that most of you who are bitching about this won't be the first ones racing to the box office with your hundred and fifty bucks waving on your hot little hands to get in to the first preview.

And yet again - From someone who constantly complains about bitchiness on this board comes a bitchy post.

I'm not into strippers per se. Yeah they have great bodies and they keep me entertained and give me something to look at when it gets a little boring at the bar/club...but I don't give away money. I won't pay good $$$$ to see on Broadway what I can see for free any friggin day of the week at Urge.

But if that's what floats your boat have fun! Who knows? Maybe it will be a success with the ladies.

Jordan, correct, it made no sense whatsoever. Typing on iPhone which likes to correct things without warning. Have to watch that.

Vulture: Yes, the Magic Mike Musical Will Include Audience Lap Dances
http://www.vulture.com/2013/02/magic-mike-musical-will-include-lap-dances.html

----------
... Oh, and will audience members get lap dances? We got the answer to that last question when we spoke to producer Gregory Jacobs (also the first assistant director on the Magic Mike movie) at the Cinema Society premiere for Side Effects last week. "Oh, you definitely might get a lap dance," he said. "Absolutely. That's happening for sure." Jacobs also let slip that "there's bound to be a great song about how to pick out a thong," but couldn't reveal much more.
----------

As someone posted above, it does sound like "Magic Mike: The Bachelorette Party."

As such, it seems like it would be better in an off-Broadway venue, a cabaret with tables and drinks. Or perhaps they'll put tables and chairs in front of the stage like when Cabaret played at Studio 54.
