I avoided it. It sounded like some Bernie Telsey wet fever dream.
For those who are new-ish to BWW, you ain't seen shilling until you witnessed the flock of shills for BKLYN dominating this site as early as six months prior to the show's opening.
It was my first and (I hope) last time to see Espinosa, a meeskite of the first water who, like most homely belters, has no taste other than believing HIGHER and LOUDER are the pinnacle of vocal art and acting.
saw it...at the time eden espinosa's voice blew my mind. Never heard someone sing like that live before. Also the other girl in it..ugh..what was her name...amazing as well if not more so. the guys were horrible as was the show in general but that song..ugh what was it that eden sang..just incredible
I'm in the minority that really liked it. But that's what art is- people like different things. I laugh when someone is surprised another person likes something they didn't.
I saw it on Broadway and on tour. I enjoyed both productions and both sets of casts. The costumes were fun, and the music was exciting. The story behind the production is also fascinating if you ever watch the documentary "Matzah Boy"
