Jenloveswen they have work, but the first act is pretty strong. The 2nd act is where things need a lot of work.

I thought the projections worked well. As an audience member I don't feel the sets have to be primitive to envoke 80s. The only time I thought they were too much was during I love Rock n Roll.

I don't mind the limited use of Pittsburghese. Most audiences won't know what yinzteam is anyway.

The plot point you have an issue with is kinda minor in the overall plot. The story is more about a girl who wants to be a dancer.

ArtMan previews start in August so you'll miss it.

Thanks, Markecib. With Bette now coming to Broadway, Flashdance would have been the one to drop. Now I don't have to make that choice.

I saw this show in London, it was horrible. But I'm a product of the 1980's, and I love the film, despite its problems.

The problem with the musical (and the film), as I see it, is that it's a female-empowerment story tucked into a Cinderella story.

Should we care about this girl who comes from nothing and makes something of herself (the Cinderella story) or should we care about her as a feminist woman making her own way in the Pittsburgh steel industry (Norma Rae)? It needs to be one or the other. Either could possibly work. Both together? Extremely problematic.

There should be a way to make both these things work together.

Ziggy:"I saw this show in London, it was horrible."

No, you didn't. Every original London song has been scrapped, and the book has been completely re-written.

So like it or hate it, this is not the London show.

I'm seeing it in St. Louis when I'm there for a wedding. I'll post then.

Not every London song has gone, Steeltown Sky, My Next Step and Hear and Now (though that one is renamed) are the same.

I think it's a shame songs such as High Art have been replaced. I also think it's a shame they are dumbing it back down after trying to add some depth and drama in London.

It's crazy watching the new preview video of the show though as it looks the same as the London one
