There was a time during the Celebrity of the Day thread when all of BWW (or at least the OT board) seemed to come together in a really wonderful way.

It's a shame those threads no longer seem to exist.

The Meltdown Code is a true classic.

Deer. Anything Deer.

Izzy's Baby was the height of hilarity.

As was Coco's access-a-ride debacle and the parrot that saved her life.

Celebrity of the Day was awesome!

I remember shortly after I joined being addicted and on for hours at a time, responding in almost every thread. It was more fun then.

There was a thread about a deer being killed and her husband joined the board under the name "Angry Deer" and caused havoc for a week or so until he got unceremoniously banned. For a long while after any mention of Angry Deer (or Carol, the deceased) got a thread deleted.

Actually, I was the instigator of the deer thread, and what happened was, the poster jasonf's fiancée caitiesus (also a poster) started a thread asking people to pray for jasonf 'cause he'd had a collision with a deer and was in the hospital. I was the first to respond and asked cheekily, "What happened to the deer?" which really set her off. She then proceeded to go on a tirade about how the deer didn't matter 'cause it was a stupid animal and that henceforth she hated all deer and they all needed to be shot, which inspired other posters to jump in. Then the thread kinda took on a life of its own, going for pages and getting moderators involved. It had to be seen to be believed. Good times.

BTW: AngryDeer was TheatreDiva90016. He'd started the account immediately after as a joke.

I think I joined a little bit after the Izzy's Baby thing. What was it again? Some poster made up a pregnancy or something?

Yeah, a poster Izzybeth008, seemingly harmless enough, started a a thread announcing her pregnancy in April 2007. No one thought anything bad about it 'cause she'd been a regular poster for like a year and had actively participated in several threads. Also, she was the originator of the popular "Any clips of y'all singing?" thread.

Anyhoo, in May she supposedly got into a horrific car wreck, which also got a thread of its own. She and her husband (or fiancé, she could never make up her mind) suffered several injuries (broken ribs, collarbone, arm, shoulder) but were otherwise okay. Then in late July she said she was at a Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows book party when she suddenly went into labor. Two of us, erikamato and I, initially questioned the birth 'cause it had only been 3 months since she'd announced the pregnancy, but we offered our congratulations, anyway. However, our resident sleuth brdlwyr uncover inconsistencies in her story and took her to task.

For those who want to relive the hilarity:
http://broadwayworld.com/board/readmessage.php?thread=942878&boardname=off&boardid=2&page=1

Also, here's her pregnant/car crash thread (scroll down to the middle for car story):
http://broadwayworld.com/board/readmessage.php?page=3&thread=936348&boardid=2

Speaking of Message Board Celebrity of the Day, here's Izzybeth008's CotD page:
http://broadwayworld.com/board/readmessage.php?thread=934777&boardid=2&page=29

Enjoy!

ETA: For what it's worth, I think BWW's Golden Age was 2005-2007. The place, particularly the off-topic board, was really rockin'! *nostalgic*

But when catiesus started the thread about her fiance getting in the bad accident when he hit the deer, did she not title the thread "I hate deer!"? Because, I think that was what set the whole Rube Goldberg contraption that was that thread and its spin-offs into glorious motion.

I had forgotten about the balding parrot who was not yet dead.

Broadwayworld's Golden Age?

How could I not weigh in?

I'd say probably sometime from early its inception in the summer of 2003 through 2006, maybe 2007.

The night of Minnelli Madness...the night Brendan Stryker died and the days and night following...whenever Liam posted...the first BWW picnic...the night of the first BWW party at the Westside restaurant with the flavored Martinis...I don't recall Izzy's baby but I do remember the poster who claimed to have been destitute and found herself pregnant...the annual Year-In-Review posts by Winston...the thread filled filled with pictures culled from the Internet, each with a capture customized to fit a poster...the frequent suspensions/bannings of MattG in his various disguises...anything by VoiceAnth...the color codes...Celebrity for A Day...the creation of the Off-Topic Board and later the Student Board...the late night chat room...anything by RobbO was a treat...the theatre discussions with Iflit and Namo...the sock puppet thread.

It was silly, it was fun. It was mostly intelligent and the silliness made it even more engaging. So many wonderful individuals, some of whom are gone and some more tempered now and still sighted from time to time.

Mitchell, you have a very big chip on your shoulder which should be addressed.

I wrote to you many months ago asking that you contact me directly if you have something to discuss. I gave you my email at that time, and as you know we have enough people in common that you can get word to me at anytime. I'm not going to engage with you here no matter how many names you choose to hurl my way.

Some people say he got his wish and became a real boy. Once he had fingers unencumbered by marionette strings, he changed his screen name and blended in with the rest of the readable posters.

Others say he was Dollypop.

While not the golden age (since those days have been addressed), there are things I miss.

I miss the great nemesis duos, like Namo vs. Rath.

I miss papalovesmambo just getting a wild hair and doing whatever he could to get suspended for a while.
