Glad you liked it as much as I did, Jordan. I've seen it twice, and it's one of my favorite things ever.

Jordan, always knew you had good taste. The show is magical, fitting the story's (and original story's) whimsy.

PETER AND THE STARCATCHER is that one show that I want EVERYONE to see. It's so special, so magical, and so much better than any play on Broadway today (including that puppet show WAR HORSE). Tony Voters committed a Broadway felony when they didnt give it the trophy for Best Play. It won more Tonys that any other play last season...but not the top prize???

I've seen it 4 times since NYTW and already have a ticket for closing performance.
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

It's the rare production that makes you remember why you love going to, or working in, the theatre.

Kad, this is exactly what my friend and I both said after the first time I saw it...we're both young actors who see theater frequently and it was such a great feeling to see something like this. It really did remind me why I love theater so much and why it's such a singular experience, and also how amazing it is when you see theater that's truly special because there really is nothing like it.

Gotta add some more to the lovefest for this show. When I saw it back in the spring, I was floored by it. Every part of it really--just an unbelievable, magical night at the theatre. And I am certainly in the camp who thought that if Christian Borle didn't win the Tony for this, it would have been an absolute travesty. His scene in Act Two with the treasure chest...about halfway through my mouth literally just dropped because I was in awe of his performance. Hilarious and spot on--such perfect execution in the context of the show.

Love, love, love this play. Certainly should have won the Tony for best play. And yes, tears also flowed towards the end of the show.

I saw it at NYTW but finally saw it on Broadway for the first time a couple of months ago and loved it just as much as I did at NYTW. It's such a joyful, joyus show. I cried during the last scene, as well...both times.

Saldivar was not nearly as good as Borle, but he was still strong. It's an incredibly clever show with a big heart. If anyone on these boards hasn't seen it yet, you must before it closes.

*****SPOILER ALERT*****

In the act two scene with the chest, when Stache's hand is cut off, Saldivar has a bit where he writhes in pain for an extremely lengthy bit of time before finally groaning out "ooooh my God." It builds beautifully and is a bit that really expores the comedy of an extrordinarily lengthy pause. It was one of the highlights of the show for me when I saw it last month, and I don't remember Borle doing this off-broadway. Is this something Saldivar has added or was it in place when Borle was Stache?

But, I will be the one to say the obvious...

If you hadn't seen Jakey so often, you could have seen it earlier....

Don't hate me Jordan.

I have seen it four times now, the latest being last night when I got third row center orchestra seats through TDF.
The cast is phenomenal - I see or hear something new each time I go. I absolutely adore Arnie Burton as Mrs. Bumbrake and think he steals the show. I also enjoy gazing at Isaiah Johnson.
One of the times we went to see it was on my daughter's 16th birthday. I saw Matthew Saldivar before the show and asked him if he could have the cast sign a card for her. Not only did they sign, but each person wrote a personal note to her, and Matthew presented the card and sang Happy Birthday to her at the stage door. They are the nicest and most talented cast on Broadway in my opinion and I hope to see the show a few more times before January 20.

I've had my closing night ticket since the first day it went on sale because I love the show so much. I'm from the West coast though, and up until now, I'm still not sure if I should go. I *REALLY* want to see it on its last night, but I'm scared of what the weather will be like at that time. Not used to snow and blizzards and all that, so I'm getting paranoid about getting stuck there. January is the start of my work's suuuuper insane busy time. :-/

I may have to see this again before it closes.

I've felt a personal connection to it, and have truly loved it. I think I'll treat myself to another visit.

I was planning on seeing this on my next trip but I just went to try and get tickets to the Wednesday 2 pm show on December 5th. It seems that there is not a 2 pm show that day but instead an 11:30am performance which seems to be sold out according to Ticketmaster. I really wanted to see it too.
