Membership services were extremely accommodating about rescheduling my ticket. I will now be going on Saturday. I hope the weather holds up.

I'm glad to hear that, ljay. I'm also glad you didn't come all the way into the city for no reason.

Apparently, there were people who were starting to line up at midnight, by the way.

Oh, lord, Kad! I wonder how many were there. I hope they didn't wait too long before they heard.

Thanks for the info, ljay. Glad to hear it. I have tickets for Saturday, as well. Hoping the weather is clear!

Also, do they often cancel due to bad weather the days before a performance? Based on their website it sounds like they try to do everything possible to still go on (even waiting until the last minute to call it). It just sounded odd to cancel based on past weather when it sounds like they would still go on even if it had been raining all day and stopped for the show. (Also, I'm not currently in NY, so I have no idea how bad the flooding might be there.) On Eden Espinosa's twitter she said they are still having an invited dress tonight. Is there any chance they just needed another night of rehearsal?

^GilmoreGirlO2, I've heard from many people that it is because they needed more rehearsal time. Tonight is an invited dress as you mentioned. This is because storms the past week in the city made tech week very difficult.

They almost never cancel before a performance due to anticipated weather. This was a rarity - in fact I can't remember the last time this happened. They also clarified on their website that it has nothing to do with tonight's forecast. It was all about needing one more night of rehearsal.

Ah, yes, makes sense! Hope things run smoothly for them tonight!

Yeah, their tech week got hit by weather pretty badly. I believe there was even a power outage at some point. They did need another day. It simply wasn't audience ready.

Does anyone know how many people were lined up by the time word came around?

Just wanted to make sure... based on what I've read, this is a transfer of the Regent's Park Open Air Theatre production, but it will have new designers? I saw only the trailer of the filmed version of the RPOAT production and wish I could see the entire thing, but is that original set being scaled down or enlarged for the Delacorte? I have no idea about either one of the spaces.

The set design is largely the same- just tweaked to fit the Delacorte's space.

The costume designs are entirely new and unique to this production.

This is how they're billing it

The engagement is based on the 2010 Regent's Park Open Air Theatre London staging. The Public Theater enlisted original London co-directors Timothy Sheader and Liam Steel to re-explore the production in a fresh incarnation for Shakespeare in the Park.

The set, a collaboration between original Open Air Theatre designer Soutra Gilmour and Tony-winner John Lee Beatty, rises over 50 feet in the air, with a series of tree-covered catwalks and pathways.

If it rains tonite, and it looks like it will, will they cancel tommorrow night for an invited dress?
I saw the set and it's wonderful.
Beatty knows that Delacort Theatre like no other designer,
he has helped out very well indeed.

Some beautiful pictures from the Regent's Park production - this should give you a good idea:

I really hope they ulitize the castle in the background of the park.

Unfortunately, Belvedere is all but blocked by the trees used for the production.

Sorry to be that person Kad, but any idea when there might be word about tomorrow's performance going or not? (Rain issues aside, which doesn't look like a problem).

Ehh, the decision would only really be reached after the rehearsal this evening. Weather seems to be in the production's favor today, so assuming they have worked on everything that needed to be worked on and it continues to be fair outside, I really can't foresee another cancellation.

If it does come to that, the decision wouldn't be made until around midnight, probably. When the Public decides to announce it publicly, however, is another matter... the slowness of their announcement today was understandably irksome to many.

Apparently tonight's dress rehearsal was just cancelled about a half hour prior to curtain.

Had a friend who had dress rehearsal tickets who just informed me the show has been cancelled tonight...

Does anyone know what that means for tomorrow? It's obviously not because of rain so that must mean they still aren't ready...

On second thought, I just heard thunder so maybe it is weather related? *fingers crossed*
