What Shows do you think are the next to go?

Such anger, power struggle and spelling/grammar-righteousness on a little old theater chat board.
I always wonder what that's about.

Don't be deterred, Suspendable. There are lots of great folks and smart observations on this board!

Suggest not participating in the banter back and forth when it starts to go sour against you. Just post your question, collect the information and move on. Bickering back and forth just encourages the immaturity.

It doesn't matter what you post around here. Somebody is bound to say something bitchy, regardless. So if anyone other than a moderator suggests you should censor your posts, they are usually the first ones who should be taking their own advice. Just ignore them and post what you want. You don't have to read many threads to find you've done nothing out of the ordinary around here.

My prediction is, in fact, CHICAGO.

Yup, I said it. I'm just not sure it can survive Billy Ray Cyrus as Billy Flynn.

I wouldn't be surprised to hear that about CHICAGO, either. It's had such a great run, but I don't think it's as well taken care of as other shows, and after hearing about some future "stunt casting", it seems likely.

Everyone should lay off of you! I applaud the fact that you are exposing yourself to the arts at such a young age. You are the future of broadway! If young people don't get involved then the art form will not survive. You also show a high degree of critical thinking because you are acknowledging that first and foremost broadway is a business. If shows don't do well they close. You don't have people in the broadway community that can afford to donate $20 million ( Ann Ziff gave this to the Met for the new production of the ring)to a production with no expectation of a financial return like you see in the high arts like Opera/Ballet/symphony. hence the term "broadway investors"

I also look to see which shows are closing because if I've seen it I want the theater to go vacant so another show can come in. Also, some shows are so bad that they don't deserve to even be mounted and should be closed out of respect for the descerning theater-going public.

Any type of post that goes after the speaker rather than the argument really should just be ignored. That's been my rule on here for a long time.

I think Mamma Mia would close before Chicago, simply because their grosses have been weaker.

Not to get too far off the topic, but PattiLuPoneFanatic said:

2. There is a search feature where you can find out if a particular thread has already been introduced.

Does anyone else ever find that the search feature does not work very well? I will sometimes try to find an old thread and use the posted by field and get now results. Just wondering.

Yes, the search feature often sucks.

(Oh, and how convenient for two more to join today, and just happen to stumble across this thread. And one, right after the other. Oy.)

I'll be the first person to say that I can be snarky and overcritical of other posts. But to create a thread that has been seen before (it happens. whatever.), and then draw attention to negativity and claim that it will not happen on YOUR threads within this public forum? Well, to quote a movie, "There's innocent; there's childlike, and then there's just asking for it".

And how are you 11 and formerly BwayEqs when BwayEqs commented on a thread that his son watches a Disney Channel show

As I've said, the kid can post whatever he wants. His "my thread" post, though, was ponderous and deserves a good laugh.

Wynbish, this is BwayEqs/OpeningNight becuase something wierd happened AGAIN and I couldn't log into to my second account. Yes, I am 11 years old. The kid I said was my son is not my actual biological son. He is my late 28 year old brother's son. My late brother was killed in a car crash along with his wife and both my parents. When my brother and sister-in-law died, obviously my brother's son had no where to go. He was put in the custody of me and my 21 year old brother. Since his parents are dead, me and my 21 year old brother call ourselves his parents, and he refers to us both as "Dad".
