Not to sound like a crotchety old man, but couldn't Philip Seymour Hoffman have buttoned the top button on his shirt and pulled his tie up into place? He looked like Frances McDormand dressed him.
I felt so bad for Danny Burstein when they showed him as they read his name out as a nominee. Follies had just lost as Best Revival, and from the expression on his face, he knew that, despite having gotten the Outer Critics Circle and Drama Desk Award and getting his hopes up, he was going to lose.
I was shocked by Patti with a lawn mower too. But even more shocked by Jan being robbed! AGAIN! :O I don't think she had time to steal Audra's Tony and put it in her bag.
I think it's understandable since he wasn't expected to win, he thought he heard his name, and so he was surprised. This wasn't an 'oh my god I DIDN'T win' face but the opposite.
Mine was actually Nina Arianda. The Tony Awards (unlike the Oscars) will honor brilliant, older character actresses...and from what I had been reading on here Linda Lavin or Stockard Channing were favored.
