King of the trolls. You've got it twisted. I've never been a troll....and I don't start threads with "my own set of facts".
I don't care who's wrong or right. I don't really want to fight no more. It's time for letting go.

I guess the same voices who lie to him about Nielsen ratings also lie to him about box office figures.

I have no voices . Stop projecting yourself . When I wrote this thread I was all optimistic LM would be highest grossing movie. It did very well. And I still think time will tell. Always sad when this board must be met with nasty trolls like the two of you. You can't even let people get excited about a movie musical. Sad.

Les Miz is set to have the nastiest trolls for a musical thread of all time!

Bravo!!!

Except there were nastier. I know for a fact.

I guess you left that part out when you posted.

Always sad when this board must be met with nasty trolls like the two of you.

How is it trolling to point out the fact that you post things aren't true? Aren't the false comments you post more like trolling?

You can't even let people get excited about a movie musical. Sad.

That might be the dumbest thing you've said so far. I've made nothing but positive comments for this movie.

I don't think it was very good. There are things you'll accept on stage for the sake of economy in the story telling that just don't work in a movie. They were too faithful. And it was too dirty. I didn't need to see Valjean covered in raw sewage, thank you very little.

I wasn't really a big fan of the Sweeney Todd movie, but Sondheim had a point. He admired it because it was made into a very different thing than it was on stage. This Les Miz was too slavish to the stage musical.

Can't we all agree that it WOULD have become the highest grossing movie musical of all time if Beyonce had starred in it?

NO

Our children (and their children) don't give a damn about "granny" Beyonce. You should hear how the new generation kids speaks of Madonna. Star quality is extremely time limited.
When you speak of "all time", other factors come in.
The film stands on it's own now, and only the product and the performances count.

In 200 years this time will be looked back upon as the time where Amanda Seyfriend and Russel Crowe were the biggest stars and filmmusical singers.

I'm glad names like Julie Andrews mark the 60's, and Deanna Durbin marks the 30's. Different times, different standards.

Today, almost 50 years after the Sound of Music came out, people still enjoy Julie's quality performance. So, the grosses are still counting. The new generation loves the quality. Not the fact that she was in another film back in the day.

Julie Andrews only wishes she could have had the kind of career that Beyonce has.

BTW, the Les Miz movie is still playing in the U.S.. It is now in the second-run "bargain" theatres - what some folks still call "the dollar show", even thoguh the price is up to four or five dollars.

Also playing at the local bargain theatre: Lincoln, Argo and Django Unchained.
