After all that has happened to even get the curtain open for the show, I hope that it is good. My youger brothers would find a show to be interested and hope to see if it turns out to be successful.
Theatre is not just some petty extracurricular activity I do in my spare time. It is my life, it is my passion, it is who I am. Nothing and no one can change that or take it away from me. All the world is MY stage.

I'll be there tonight and will be sure to post thoughts! I always try to get a curtain photo so fingers crossed. I believe I have already seen the curtain when I walked by once during load in and it looked to me like its going to look like a comic cell...we'll find out for sure tonight though.

I love Julie's explanation of Turn Off The Dark. I really like the title. I don't get what's so hard to understand about it.

I second Baileyboo's sentiment. Safety above all, but hopefully it will run as smoothly as possible. I also hope it's everything a $60 million+ musical should be.

Happy 1st preview!

You people who defended Women on the Verge's terrible previews better not be bashing Spiderman too much.. cause im expecting similar technical problems.

Oh, well I was tanning in the Bahamas, love. Thanks for the link.

It's not hard to understand, it's just convoluted and pretentious. But so are most Vegas shows and see how perfectly they transfer to Broadway!

I'm calling it now: this thread is going to be more of a mess than the WOTV thread.

But I wish nothing but the best for the cast and crew of this show! I truly hope they surprise the hell out of everyone and really deliver with this production! Also, I have a feeling anyone who's going better be ready for a LONG night at the Foxwoods Theater.

I'd say break a leg but I feel like it's in poor taste considering how many broken body parts they've already had to deal with...

I'm going to see it tonight as well. No doubt, the first preview will not be a finished product. The trick will be to see the fragmented bits, the moments of brilliance, and try to figure out if it can all be assembled into a hit show. Let's face it, this show will be quite a bit different when it finally reaches opening night.

All of Taymor's shows have moments of visual splendor. Narrative, though, has never been her strong suit. But if the story and characters are interesting and compelling in Spiderman, I think this could be a huge hit. If not, then it's "Across The Universe" again, which had beautiful visuals, but was ultimately a bore because nobody cared about the plot.

Behind the fake tinsel of Broadway is real tinsel.

"Turn off the Dark"? It probably has something to do with how many times the house lights are gonna come up tonight to fix a technical issue.
