"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)
With the physicality of the show, wear and tear and injuries shouldn't come as a shock.

^True. Another thought I had was whether some of the acrobats have to return to various other productions they might be in (such as Les 7 doigts de la main and Cirque). I don't know how contracts work but was wondering if there was a logistical reason besides injuries.
It is unlikely that the director is around that much. That's the stage manager's job. They work with understudies and with the stage manager, the dance captain. If they are lucky their first rehearsal with the actual cast isn't in front of an audience...but it usually is.

They're going to get a good bit of people though with talent. Whoever couldn't get in Cirque's productions or are ex-artists of their shows (since they laid a lot off), will definitely go here.
Dramamama, there is an Assistant Director and Associate Director/PSM on this particular production. That's rare but makes sense here. I'm surprised they just don't have one Resident Director. Similar to Billy Elliot.
Thanks for the info, I was unaware...but truth be told, I was talking in generalities.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
I would actually guess they all NOW have their equity card. You don't need one to get a job...just to do the job. Having the promise of work on b'way GETS you your equity card.
Maybe AEA will drop in, he's our "expert".

this is the one thing that can really hurt the show in the long run, replacing the circus performers. Sure there's a lot out there, but they also need to sing.

@ACL Exactly what I was thinking. It's going to be difficult when some acrobats are out. Are they going to have understudies or standbys for them or just cut out their tricks all together?
(You do know that THEY have it all figured out, right?)
I'm sure it's a little bit of both depending on what tricks are needed and how ready the swing or understudy is.

That doesn't mean anything. Cirque du Soleil shows run up to 10 performances a week. They are all going well, Wicked was physically exhausting for the girls who were playing Elphaba, it's still running
The show will run as long as enough people are buying tickets. Period. MIGHT they have to change a few of the stunts? Maybe. Big deal, if they change keys, they can change some stunts.
