Oh wow, Jordan Catalano was right. All those PMs he got saying he's a liar about Mason being cast must have been meant for someone else about something else.
Tam Mutu is Sierra Boggess's boyfriend in real life. He certainly has the right vocal quality for the role seeing as he's played the alternate Phantom in LOVE NEVER DIES in London for the past year or so. He's also just been in CHESS in Toronto (playing Anatoly, I think? I believe he may be Canadian?). Youtube him and I'm sure something will turn up.
He's a bit young for Maxim, isn't he? Especially opposite John Dossett and Donna English, who's supposed to be his sister? I don't actually know how old Tam is but I think he's only in his 20s/early 30s...
No announcement as to who's playing Ben (the creepy weirdo who hangs out on the beach), who's the other major supporting role in the show. Unless they've cut his part or something?
Interestingly, other than Zambello, Davison and Ortel, the creative team is new. So the same set as Vienna, but new costumes, lighting, sound and choreography.
What is this obsession with Boggess? I think her voice is just your run of the mill wispy soprano. Couldn't they get someone with better chops? I know she played Christine in both Phantom and Love Never Dies and was also the lead in LM, but do we need to sit through her again? I really do not care for her voice. I will however be sitting through this show because of my love for Mason and Barbour. Both deserve more recognition than they have received over the career.
He's being sarcastic. But I agree... I just don't get the hype about her, either. I'm kind of disappointed with the casting. Seems like a wasted opportunity, and makes me wonder if the producers aren't confident enough in the show to spend the money on bigger "names."

Oh Joradan and his sarcasm. Never can tell when he is being serious. That might also be because I am too busy staring at his latest addition to the avatar family. Are you taking suggestions on a new guy to post? Cause I have a ton I wouldn't mind seeing and fantasizing about every time you comment.
We'll, I am disappointed. I really dont think Mason has the acting chops, but we'll see. Disappointed it isnt Kuhn (have I posted that enough?)
Interesting they didnt go with Panaro, I wonder if he knew it'd be a flop, and he's been in so many, or did they just cast this guy?
"Carson has combined his passion for helping children with his love for one of Cincinnati's favorite past times - cornhole - to create a unique and exciting event perfect for a corporate outing, entertaining clients or family fun."
I will eat my words Jordan.. You were wrong on Barbour but correct on Karen Mason . Kudos to her though, she definitely has the chops (vocally, check WONDERLAND). She was the standby for Norma Desmond, not an easy role, for a slew of the stars on Broadway and received some good notices (especially considering the amount of people who go wanting to see Buckley or Close, etc).
Saying "no one else auditioned" is partly true for "I"... The creatives have wanted Sierra since day 1.
Also Tam Mutu is the most bizarre casting of this entire production. I wonder if Sierra had a say in casting him, since, again the creatives have been shopping for her since it was going to be staged in London. Personally I think Jill Paice would've been the best candidate. I think Hugh Panaro would have also done an incredible job with the role.
Besides costumes, it's the same creative team (minus Graciela Daniele and Michael Blakemore) who are working on the upcoming Stuttgart production in December, which is rumored to be the basis for the Broadway transfer (starring Pia Douwes and Thomas Borchert).

I was hoping they would've brought over Pia Douwes. I missed her in Chicago, I would love to see her perform live some day. People have been throwing around names for ever for this role, I doubt that Kuhn was ever considered.

ATTENTION FANS: I will be played by James Barbour in the upcoming musical, "BroadwayWorld: The Musical."
Thank you for saying that about Sierra Boggess. I've been sitting here scratching my head for a couple of years - she's pretty and she has a decent generic soprano voice, but I've never been overly impressed and I don't understand the obsession. I thought her voice was fantastic in "The Little Mermaid" and her high soprano is quite nice, but somewhere between the belt to Mezzo area of her voice gets too breathy and unfocused for my taste. I constantly have felt like they're trying to stick a square peg in a round hole by making her this soprano sensation, but that's just me. Again, no disrespect to her, and I do enjoy her voice in some things very much, but as a headlining soprano, I don't understand....
