"Initial casting has been announced for the new musical Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark.
Evan Rachel Wood will play Mary Jane Watson, Peter Parker's girlfriend, and Tony winner Alan Cumming stars as Norman Osborn (aka Green Goblin), Spider-Man's most notorious nemesis.
Directed by The Lion King's Julie Taymor, Spider-Man will begin previews at Broadway's Hilton Theatre Jan. 16, 2010, with an official opening scheduled for Feb. 25, 2010. Casting will be announced shortly." Updated On: 6/26/09 at 03:20 PM
Previews were indeed pushed back and they still haven't announced an opening night. I actually think I'm going to wait to buy tickets when previews have actually started since I have the feeling they might push previews back again as well. I must say that I'm at least intrigued.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"
Considering there are three villains and they're retelling the whole origin story (which is very much Peter's personal journey), I wouldn't be surprised if both of these characters only get a song or two each.
Wood has been attached to this project from the get-go so I imagine that Bono has written Mary Jane's numbers around Wood's limitations as well as her talents. I'd be more concerned about how she handles herself on stage but she's doing (or did) ROMEO & JULIET and I imagine she has previous stage experience.

I got an inward chuckle from seeing "Wood" and "Cumming" in the same subject line, but aside from that ... Alan Cumming as a villain? I'll go.

"Yes, the brutalities of progress are called revolutions. When they are over, men recognize that the human race has been harshly treated but it has moved forward." - Les Miserables
I think there are a lot more then three villians in this show. There are some new ones added which is basically Julie peeing on the Spiderman material.
Those Blocked: SueStorm. N2N Nate. Good riddence to stupid! Rad-Z, shill begone!
City, building, even landmark permits? What are they doing, turning it into an ice rink? Perhaps the rumors of them turning the theatre into a theatre in the round setting are true after all.
