Blizzard This Weekend - Selling Annie Tickets
Posted by anmiller07 2013-02-07 16:18:19

A friend just informed me that the NWS has issued a Blizzard warning for the NYC area through Saturday afternoon. Does anyone think Broadway shows will be canceled? Apparently, there will be 10-14 inches of snow? I spent ~ 250 on tickets to Annie (my little sisters first Broadway show) but with weather like that I doubt we will make it into the City (let alone the 300 I spent on a hotel room.)

------------------------------------------------------
Edit: Have been informed by Megabus that service is cancelled so I definitely won't make it. Would anyone be interested in purchasing the Annie tickets? They are Front Mezz, Center, Row D, seats 113-114 (aisle seat). Retailed for 216 after taxes and fees with a discount, I am willing to take $150. I have the tickets on the computer and can email them to you.

Edit 2- These tickets are for Saturday evening, Feb 9 at 8 pm.

During Hurricane Sandy, shows were only cancelled because all public transportation was shut down; they resumed shortly after the storm with incredible discounts or were even free. This blizzard will be nowhere near as extreme so mostly likely nothing will be cancelled.

EDIT: But then again - like you said (I just got this email now)

Excuse me, during blizzard conditions mass transit shuts down even in NYC. How will the players get home?

Just contacted Nederlander offices directly; definitely no cancellations and not willing to post-date. Shit. Any locals interested in buying the tickets at a discount?
Thankfully I contacted the hotel and they were already processing refunds (I didn't expect that at all. )

pammy, MTA doesn't shut down. Yes in extreme snow considitions some services are modified or reduced but I it's an exagerration to say the subway will shut down with 10 inches of snow.

Also contacted Nederlander by email and recieved this response, yay! So if no one buys them ill post date.
Right now, all shows are set to perform as scheduled. However, in the
event that you cannot attend the show due to the weather conditions, we do
offer a past-date policy. You can call the theatre at 212-730-8200 the
morning of a performance you would like to attend, explain that you have a
past-dated ticket, and see if the theatre can accommodate you for that
evening's performance. This is subject to availability and only possible
within one year of your original performance date. If you have any
further questions, please let us know.

How much you wanna bet The Heiress changes either their performance schedule or Jessica Chastain appearing in the role, so that she can make the BAFTAS on Sunday?

I realize most of the subway system doesn't shut down but usually train lines that are mostly outdoors do. LIRR is dead as well as Metro North and all the Jersey lines and bus routes. It's pretty much shuts down the city.. I have been though many blizzards. This is not just a snow storm there will be very high winds. Things will be very messy.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the theaters stay open during Snowpocalypse of 2010? I feel like I remember Hair offering 2 for the price of 1 student tickets.

This might be a good time for those hard-to-get-into shows.

I'm curious, too, about The Heiress schedule.

They've already changed the schedule. I was looking at the site earlier since I have tickets for tomorrow night and wanted to call. It now says the final performance is Saturday evening.

I'm going into the city tomorrow from Suffolk County and have a room booked at the Milford Plaza tomorrow night. My question is, is the LIRR shut down? I didn't see anything online just now when I searched on Google and the LIRR website. I have tickets to two shows and don't want to miss them.

Thanks everyone for all the advice. I was able to get in touch with someone at the Palace Box Office, who helped me get to someone at Ticketmaster for a full refund.
