I wonder this as well
I stood for the 10,000th performance so i feel like even if they don't release seats you might be able to get an SRO spot

The difference between the two is that the 10,000th performance was open to the general public. Granted, I believe that it was an actors fund performance, but still. The performance for the 25th anniversary is not open to the general public at all, so it would be different.

Last I checked at the box office (2 weeks ago) they said to keep checking back but that they probably won't release anything till a few days before, but they will most likely release sometime just not sure what yet. he seemed to think maybe some partial views in the orchestra

I will be there, so I am also hopeing they will release some to the public. I am just worried that either they will only release a handful and they will go fast, or it will be some lame RUG organised essay competition or lotto or something like that.
So if they do, I just hope they dont release them like right before and then have a mad rush to get.
Either way I will still probably get 2 backup tickets that week I am in town to be sure i get to see Sierra and hopefully the new alternate also.

Have they officially said it's not open to the public? The 10,000 performance was an Actor's Fund show, but the people sitting behind me bought their tickets at TKTS that same day and had no idea they were going to see the 10,000th show. So they will make a bigger deal out of the 25th anniversary, but they could still possibly have some seats for the public? right? please? somehow? please?

Yes, the 10,000'th performance of Phantom was an actors fund performance. However, I am guessing that since they didn't sell out of tickets that were being sold on the actors fund website, they sold them via tkts or their other normal methods.
I doubt that this is something that is going to be open to the public. I say this because I doubt that they have blocked off that particular performance this far in advance for nothing. Something in terms of a celebration is going to clearly happen there. And, I doubt that they will make a big deal out if it turning 25. Maybe a new ad campaign stating that but I don't think much else. After all, to the people that go see Phantom (tourists etc) all they know is that the show is amazing, the greatest thing since sliced bred and has been around for awhile. They don't care how long.

The other thing, unfortunately, I remember seeing someplace, is that someone said there will be so many past alumni invited back that after 25 years I am sure they can easily fill the theatre with invitees alone.
