Read this book in high school. One of my favorite books.
Bought a ticket for the 1st preview last night and was blown away. They have a little tightening to do, but a beautiful production! Acting was terrific!
I'd recommend it.

Thanks. I've enjoyed this book, as well as the others he wrote, so I'll go see it.

The acting is wonderful, though the script isn't that fantastic. It still made me tear up at the end (quite a bit, actually) as it is a touching story.
Worth seeing if you can, especially if you love the novel.

Just got an offer. I love Jenny Bacon and would love to hear about her work here.

Bacon is fantastic in this. Plays multiple roles, one of which is unrecognizable from the rest.

I'm also a big Mark Nelson fan--he's in this too.

This adaptation is serviceable but can't hold a candle to the source novel.

While this may indeed be a lovely piece of theatre, you all do realize that this thread was started by a shill, correct?

Nothing against shilling, but transparency is appreciated.... oh, I just realized that shilling requires non-transparency.... nevermind.

Saw the show Saturday night. The script was faithful to the source material and did a good job of capturing in 90 minutes the essence of the book, which I just (re)read this week. Mark Nelson's performance was particularly noteworthy - his transformations into each of the several diverse characters he portrayed seemed effortless. While the show is almost too earnest, and there is too much exposition directly to the audience by the title character, overall it was a memorable and haunting production.

Bad shills are ugly!
