Shouldn't it say "Toronto's WIZARD OF OZ to launch North American Tour" ???
After all, when tours launch in new York or L.A. we don't call the thread "USA's [show] to launch North American Tour."
It always bugs me that we are so specific about cities in reference to U.S. locations but not elsewhere.
Anyhow, this IS fantastic news for the cast and creative team.

Well, aside from what one may or may not think of the London production, we don't yet know WHAT the North American production will really be like yet.. They actually announced that the Toronto production would tour quite a while ago and that it requires the production to be heavily redesigned to make that happen.. indeed, if any production would be physically impossibly to tour, it would be the London production of Oz.

Reminds me of our First National of MAMMA MIA which featured the original Toronto company. Glad to see a similar model being used here!

I thought maybe they are calling it the Canadian production because they cast Dorothy from nationwide auditions on a nationally-televised and voted reality show. Or maybe its just the "Canadian way" of trying to be fully inclusive at all times, whether it makes sense or not in a specific situation.

They're calling it the Canadian production because it's forming in Canada, with an "all Canadian" cast. That said, even in the hayday of "all Canadian" casts (Phantom, Mamma Mia, Lion King, etc) there have almost always been at least a sprinkling of Americans in the casts.

I am very curious to see if, in fact, they do announce an all Canadian company. I am certainly not at all fond of Webber's work in this show, but I am very curious to see how the physical production is adapted. Now to see what dates will be booked for the show. I'd love to see it, and I will.
