I know but I have a feeling with the amount of people that will be playing this lotto it won't be easy.

Or use the code BBOX and get $49 tickets and avoid the craziness that this lotto will be.....got center mezz Row H for the night before Thanksgiving.

Has anyone done the lotto? How crazy was it?

Annie Rush/Lotto
Posted by perfectlymarvelous 2012-10-05 11:33:48

I did it last night and I'm sure it'll get busier, but yesterday there can't have been more than 20-25 people there and they give out a lot of seats. I think a lot of people don't know performances are happening yet or that they even have a lottery...if you want to hit it before it gets crazy I'd say go soon, because I'm sure it'll pick up once they officially announce the policy (which they haven't yet).

perfectlymarvelous-did you get in? How many seats are there? Sorry, just curious.

^ There are 32 seats.

Posted by perfectlymarvelous 2012-10-05 12:07:05

I did get in, my friend won and then my name was called a few people later but I only needed 2 tickets so I didn't take them. We were in the first row close to the end of the row.

is the box office accepting cash only? thnx

^Yes they are.

Did the lotto tonight and there were more tickets than people.

Considering that there has been zero official word on the website regarding lotto, do you think that I would have a good chance for tonight?

Annie Rush/Lotto
Posted by wicked4l 2012-10-06 10:44:59

You should have a great chance, like the poster above said, the lotto guy was asking if anybody needed tickets at the end...Enjoy!

Annie Rush/Lotto
Posted by Vagabond Anarchist 2012-10-06 23:54:07

Interesting- so they seemed willing to sell the other tix at the end? I have work until 6 and wouldn't be able to get there until about 5 or 10 min after 6... wonder if they would sell me a ticket if I showed up a tiny bit later and some were left...

winston, did you get in/was it crowded?

Annie Rush/Lotto
Posted by winston89 2012-10-07 01:39:39

I did get called for the lotto this evening. However, it wasn't like Friday night where it seemed that there were more tickets available than people trying to get them. One thing I did notice was that there was a high number of people who entered, but when it came time to draw, they were't around. Now, I know that it's not uncommon for someone to get called at a lotto to find out that they up and left. But, this time around the number of times that happened was oddly high.

I think that if there wasn't such a high number of people to be called who weren't there, I might not have gotten a ticket. Also, despite there being a final counting of winners before tickets went on sale, someone left the line and decided to not buy their ticket(s.) I was one of the final three, and there were four tickets left. So, they sold it to him at lotto price since he only needed one anyways.

I think that it picked up more from last night, and it will continue to do so. The big thing right now is that the lotto info isn't up on the show's website yet. I think that once it is, people will start crowding around for this one.

When this lotto gets crowded, do you think that they will sell lotto loser seats???

Annie Rush/Lotto
Posted by wicked4l 2012-10-08 21:57:12

^I doubt it, they didn't for Priscilla even when they weren't selling.

Won the lottery tonight. There were probably about 50 people there, and about 40 people got tickets. The first two rows are pretty great seats, although you miss a bit of the choreography in Hard-Knock Life (because so much of it happens on the floor).

I was one of the people that did not get tickets Monday night.

2 hours before showtime

If I buy tickets, then lotto and win, would I be able to return the tickets I bought??

Annie Rush/Lotto
Posted by broadway_show_fan 2012-10-10 11:57:54

gstrus2 - um, no. You can't return tickets except very, very rare occasions. You could lotto then buy tickets afterwards. You could even try to lotto and then attempt to sell your tickets that you had previously bought at face value or less (but then you would take a hit). Sometimes if I have really wanted to sit in lotto seats, I've won lotto and then sold my previous seats for lotto price - effectively not losing anything, the other person gets a deal, and I get the seats I want. But for Annie, I'd say that the lotto seats are obstructed as the stage is VERY high and it's better to sit halfway back in the orchestra all the way on the outside than that close.

Annie Rush/Lotto
Posted by April Saul 2012-10-11 01:24:43

Everybody who entered the lotto tonight won...and there were even leftover seats that were sold to folks standing around. Really a good deal, the show is a lot of fun! And I think it'll be a crowd-pleaser and a much more crowded lottery in the next few months, especially around the holidays...

Does anyone know if they will be having a lottery on opening night? I saw the show this weekend and had a great time. Want to go back and I think that'd be a cool performance to experience.

I tried the lotto again tonight and lost.

Annie Rush/Lotto
Posted by broadwayguy2 2012-10-16 01:07:51

Lottery wasn't too crowded, but yes, there were a number of people who did not get tickets.
Well worth it for $40, but the stage is high at the Palace and the show deck is about 1 foot higher.. But yes, be prepared for some decidedly obstructed viewing. You get the idea of what you are missing, but you WILL miss some - really cleverly conceived moments on the floor during "Hard Knock-life" and one of Sandy's big moments... You also have a limited view of the big moment where Annie has to call Sandy for the first time and the first half of "Tomorrow" is completely out of view with her seated on the floor. Beyond that, it's a fine view.

How long has lotto been mentioned on their website? I only noticed it today.

Thanks for the tips, all!

This will be my first winter living in the city. Do lotteries get considerably easier as it gets colder?

Annie Rush/Lotto
Posted by dancer484 2012-10-24 14:20:21

The lottos actually get very busy around Thanksgiving and Christmas time, but then in January and February there's a bit of a lull!

Annie Rush/Lotto
Posted by SKAcasting1127 2012-11-01 11:19:51

How many tickets do they give out? I went last night and didn't win. They only gave out around 12 tickets.

Annie Rush/Lotto
Posted by HBBrock 2012-11-03 15:01:16

For $49...there are EXCELLENT mezzanine seats available with the code "BBOX" on ticketmaster....if you get them at the box office, no service fees!

For those with friends/family looking for something to do the Wednesday night before Thanksgiving...great seats available. Always a good night to see a show.

Annie Rush/Lotto
Posted by HBBrock 2012-11-03 15:04:04

And $49 beats the $69 or so you'd pay at TKTS that day! And you'd avoid waiting in line in the cold for essentially the same seat selection.

Has anyone tried the lotto recently, particularly on the weekends?

Annie Rush/Lotto
Posted by lull89 2012-11-24 20:29:17

I lottoed the matinee a week ago (Saturday 11/17) and all but 2 people got tickets. I technically didn't win, but there was a single ticket left after all the winners were called, so I ended up with the last one since the other couple both wanted to stay together.

Annie Rush/Lotto
Posted by FANtomFollies 2012-11-24 23:49:46

do you know how many people won? I heard originally it was 24, then it was reduced to 12....not sure if there is any truth to that or not.

Annie Rush/Lotto
Posted by lull89 2012-11-25 00:04:23

Pretty sure it was the entire front row and nothing else, so around 18 seats?

Annie Rush/Lotto
Posted by StageStar2468 2012-11-25 01:44:08

I think they changed the front row thing. My two friends and I tried it today and all got tickets but we ended up with the last row. I don't think it really matters though, since one lady and her daughter ended up taking two spare seats in the back (they originally had bought front row seats) because the stage is so high up that it's impossible to see a lot of the action on stage.

From what I understand, Annie is switching from Lotto to Rush- which I personally don't like!

Annie Rush/Lotto

I find this odd considering every show since Legally Blonde has had lotto, plus the lotto had been picking up since Jane Lynch joined.

Something tells me people are about to be heading that way for the lottery and will be pleased to find out they don't even have to leave it up to chance. Or by some miracle they won't have rush tickets left and everyone will be pissed.

Annie Rush/Lotto

I find this odd considering every show since Legally Blonde has had lotto, plus the lotto had been picking up since Jane Lynch joined.

The decision to do rush or lottery has nothing to do with the theater, it is solely up to the producers. Some producers like certain theaters and book them over and over again, and shows that are expected to be very popular tend to be booked at larger houses (like the Palace), so you might see trends of certain theaters doing lottery for their shows, but it is not because of or decided by the theater.

Annie Rush/Lotto
Posted by darreyl102 2013-05-23 01:10:17

I went and got rush tickets at around 12:30 and got the two front row seats that are raised on the side of the orchestra, which were excellent seats!

Annie Rush/Lotto
Posted by ClumsyDude15 2013-05-23 01:39:42

Yero - I'm aware it's up to the producers what the show's policy is, but I am just shocked because it seemed like rush was never going to happen at the Palace after Legally Blonde. Obviously, things have changed, and rush has returned to the Palace.
