Goodman Theatre is proud to announce the Chicago screening of Steven Soderbergh's art house biopic, 'And Everything Is Going Fine,' about the life and work of the late celebrated monologist Spalding Gray, presented by IFC Films. This 89-minute film, declared 'a valuable coda to the storyteller's cinematic legacy' (The Hollywood Reporter), features footage from Gray's numerous stage appearances at the old Goodman Theatre between 1985 and 1999.

The Howard County Arts Council announces the opening on January 14, 2011 of two new exhibits in the galleries at the Howard County Center for the Arts Gallery I will showcase three Maryland artists who have used light as a subject matter. The exhibit, entitled Source, features a video installation by Symmes Gardner, selfilluminated light totems and wall sculptures by Melissa Burley, and stunningly simple black & white photography by Lynn Silverman. In Gallery II, small and meticulous is the theme in Fastidious Studies with embroidery pieces by Catonsville artist Suzanne Herbert-Forton, photography by Maryland artist Anne Chan, and sculpture by North Dakota artist Donovan Widmer.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' 'Monday Nights with Oscar' will close the year with a screening of 'Driving Miss Daisy' (1989), on Monday, December 13, at 7 p.m. at the Academy Theater at Lighthouse International in New York City. Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Alfred Uhry, who received an Adapted Screenplay Oscar for 'Driving Miss Daisy,' will join the film's director, two-time Academy Award nominee Bruce Beresford, in an onstage discussion about the original play's journey from Off-Broadway hit to Best Picture-winning film. The play's current revival marks its Broadway debut.

Yoko Nagae Ceschina, a patron of the New York Philharmonic since 2004, will give a significant annual gift to name the position of Music Director Alan Gilbert. The Yoko Nagae Ceschina Music Director - the first such designation for a Music Director of the New York Philharmonic - has been created to support Mr. Gilbert's artistic vision. Ms. Ceschina, a native of Japan and a trained harpist, a friend of Zarin Mehta and Mr. Gilbert, and of the Philharmonic, has provided major support for several of its Gala Opening Night concerts and initiatives of Alan Gilbert. Ms. Ceschina provided the lead underwriting gift for the Philharmonic's historic performance in Pyongyang, North Korea, in February 2008.

The New York Philharmonic will receive the Asia Society's Cultural Ambassador Award
at a black-tie dinner at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel on Tuesday, November 16, 2010, at 6:30 p.m. The Asia Society's Annual Awards Dinner recognizes extraordinary individuals who have contributed to promoting understanding between Asians and Americans. The Philharmonic is being cited for its bridge-building concerts across the globe, particularly its historic concert in Pyongyang, DPRK, in February 2008, and its debut in Hanoi, Vietnam, in October 2009. At the dinner, two members of the Philharmonic - Assistant Concertmaster Michelle Kim and violist Vivik Kamath - will perform two works, including the well-known Korean folk song, Arirang, which they played with the Orchestra in Pyongyang.

All set in the fictional town of Shirley, VT, the plays will run together in the first-ever festival dedicated to the work of this wryly observant young writer, which will be curated by the Huntington Theatre Company.
