Chair of Melbourne Theatre Company Terry Moran AC today announced four new members to join the MTC board - Tony Burgess, Patricia Faulkner AO, Jane Hansen and Janette Kendall.
Terry Moran said 'MTC is extremely fortunate to be gaining the expertise of these highly experienced and respected individuals, each with a great deal of prowess in their particular fields. Together they will bring a wealth of knowledge, skill and international perspective to the board as we continue to expand the horizons of Victoria's flagship theatre company. On behalf of MTC Artistic Director Brett Sheehy, Executive Director Virginia Lovett and the board, I welcome Tony, Patricia, Jane and Janette to the Company.'
Tony Burgess, Patricia Faulkner AO, Jane Hansen and Janette Kendall will attend their first board meeting in February 2015, joining fellow MTC Board Members Professor Barry Conyngham AM, Professor Glyn Davis AC, Jonathan Feder, Gillian Franklin, Ian Marshman, Martyn Myer AO, Brett Sheehy AO, Virginia Lovett and Maureen Wheeler AO.
Terry Moran paid tribute to departing board member Lyndsey Cattermole for her support and commitment to MTC for the past thirteen years.
'Lyndsey has been an inspiring and dedicated board member, helping guide MTC through such important achievements as the construction of Southbank Theatre and new MTC headquarters. I'd like to thank her for the invaluable contributions she has made to the Company,' he said.
Currently CEO of Flagstaff Partners, an independent corporate advisory firm, Tony Burgess has over 30 years of experience in corporate finance in Melbourne, London and New York. He was formerly Global Co-Head of Mergers & Acquisitions at Deutsche Bank AG, based in London. Tony is a former member of the Australian Takeovers Panel, a member of CPA Australia and a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australia. He is a Director of Diversified United Investment Limited, a Director of Melbourne Business School Limited, Chair of the Foundation for Business and Economics, University of Melbourne and a Governor of the Ian Potter Foundation.
Patricia Faulkner AO is Chair of the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman Board, the National Health Performance Authority, Jesuit Social Services, Deputy Chair of St Vincent's Healthcare Australia, and a Commissioner of the Commonwealth Grants Commission. She has served on, and chaired, several boards including the Prime Minister's Social Inclusion Board and the Peter MacCallum Cancer Institute Board. Patricia has held health and social policy roles, including Secretary for the Department of Human Services, Victoria, where she was instrumental in establishing the National e-Health Transition Authority and was its first Chair. More recently, Patricia was a partner at KPMG, leading the firm's global health care business and the state governments sector. In 2008 she was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia for her services in health and human services.
Jane Hansen is a Company Director with more than 20 years investment banking and corporate finance experience in London, New York and Australia. Currently owner and manager of the Little Group, Jane was formerly an M&A advisor at Macquarie Bank and Executive Director at Credit Suisse. Jane sits on the State Library of Victoria Foundation Board and the Melbourne University Arts Foundation, and was previously on the Boards of MCG Trust, State Sport Centres Trust and Athletics Australia. Jane Hansen holds a Bachelor Degree in Economics from Monash University and a Masters Degree in Finance and Business Administration from Columbia, and is currently undertaking an Arts Degree at Melbourne University.
Janette Kendall is an experienced Marketing Executive and Company Director. She has over 20 years experience in developing and implementing business and brand strategies, driving profitable growth and leading change in multiple sectors including gaming, entertainment, hotels, food and beverage, retail, digital media and service industries. Janette is a past non-Executive Director of The Melbourne International Festival of the Arts, and AURL (Foodworks). She has a depth of experience in China in both Operations and Marketing, and has recently returned to Australia having been Senior Vice President of Marketing at Galaxy Entertainment Group, Macau. Janette is currently a Partner at Goldeneye Media International.
