The 2015-2016 Season features first-ever TPA performances by ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro, vocal chamber ensemble New York Polyphony, and a celebration of American songwriting and performance featuring Patty Griffin, Sara Watkins, and Anaïs Mitchell. Return engagements include David Finkel (cello) and Wu Han (piano), new-music favorites eighth Blackbird, and Australian contemporary circus, Circa. The season also includes Texas Theatre and Dance's production of The Diary of Anne Frank, Julian Sands in A Celebration of Herald Pinter, Twyla Tharp's 50th Anniversary Tour, and a screening of Frankenstein (1931) featuring a new score performed live by the UT Wind Ensemble.
"Texas Performing Arts continues to strengthen our role as a cultural leader in the UT and Central Texas community," says Texas Performing Arts Director and Associate Dean Kathy Panoff. "I am especially proud to continue presenting important interdisciplinary performance programming that brings together the world's most innovative and talented artists for the education of our students and enjoyment of our audiences."
