Flux Theatre Ensemble will present the World Premiere of August Schulenburg's (The Lesser Seductions of History with Flux; Dream Walker with Sweet Pea Productions) DEINDE, April 27-May 12 as part of BFG Collective's six month long residency at The Secret Theatre (44 02 23rd Street, Long Island City). 

The production will be directed by Flux Producing Director, Heather Cohn (nominated for an NYIT Outstanding Direction Award for Flux's The Lesser Seductions of History; Winner of a FringeNYC Excellence Award for Outstanding Direction for Flux's Other Bodies) and will feature Sol Marina Crespo (Winner of the 2005 HOLA Award for Outstanding Performance of a Featured Female Actress), Ken Glickfeld* (OOBR ensemble award for Journey's End at Theater Row), Rachael Hip-Flores ("Anyone But Me" web series), David Ian Lee* (Infectious Opportunity with Nosedive Productions; Mac Rogers' Universal Robots), Matthew Murumba* (Flux's A Midsummer Night's Dream),Isaiah Tanenbaum (The Messenger in Flux's Jacob's House), Matthew Trumbull* (Mac Rogers' Viral; Dear Ruth with Retro Productions), and Nitya Vidyasagar* (Puck in Flux's A Midsummer Night's Dream; Leela on "Sesame Street"). The creative team will include Fight Choreography by Michael Lawrence Eisenstein, Sound Design byMartha Goode, Costume Design by Stephanie Levin, Set Design by Will Lowry, Dramaturgy by Ingrid Nordstrom, and Lighting Design by Kia Rogers. In the not-too-distant future, the pressure to cure a global pandemic spurs the creation of DEINDE, a device that allows a team of brilliant quantum biologists to think directly into a powerful computer. At first, they use this prosthetic for the mind under strict rules of engagement, but soon noble ideals and personal passions lead a few to break the rules. They discover that DEINDE's power is far greater than anyone first imagined, and their world spins out of control, raising questions of morality, consciousness, and what it means to be human in an age of rapid technological change.
 
The production, presented by Flux Theatre Ensemble as part of the BFG Collective, will play a three-week engagement at The Secret Theatre (44 02 23rd Street, Long Island City), April 27-May 12; Tuesday through Saturday at 8pm and Sundays at 3pm. AUGUST SCHULENBURG (Playwright) full-length plays include Dream Walker, Riding the Bull, The Lesser Seductions of History, Carrin Beginning, Other Bodies, Jacob's House, Kidding Jane, Rue, Good Hope, Honey Fist, Dark Matter, Denny and Lila, Jane the Plain, Under a Better Sky and The Hand That Moves. His plays have been produced and developed at The Lark, Bay Area Playwrights Festival, Chelsea Playhouse, Theater for the New City, Portland Stage Company, Dayton Playhouse, Colonial Players, Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival, Contemporary Stage Company, Abingdon Theater Company, Gideon Productions, New Amerikan Theatre, Riot Actors of Washington, MTWorks, Penobscot Theatre, Impetuous Theater Group, Decades Out, Soundtrack Series, Reverie Productions, Wolf 359, Blue Box Productions, Piper McKenzie, Boomerang Theatre Company, Adaptive Arts, Nosedive Production, and Flux Theatre Ensemble, where he is the Artistic Director. His work has been published in the New York Theater Review, Stage and Screen, Indie Theater Now, Midway Journal, and Carrier Pigeon.
 
Heather Cohn (Director) is a co-founder of Flux Theatre Ensemble and currently serves as the Producing Director. Directing credits for Flux include Erin Browne's Menders; August Schulenburg's The Lesser Seductions of History (nominated for Outstanding Direction, New York Innovative Theatre Awards) and Other Bodies (FringeNYC Excellence Award for Outstanding Direction); staged readings of Jose Rivera's Sueño and Adam Szymkowicz's Pretty Theft, August Schulenburg's Channeling and Bekah Brunstetter's Miss Lilly Gets Boned. Outside of Flux Heather recently directed David Stallings' The Stranger to Kindness (Outstanding Overall Production of a One-Act, Planet Connections Theatre Festivity Awards, also nominated for Outstanding Direction Award). Other credits include: Aliza Einhorns's Blood (EstroGenius Festival); Wayne Paul Mattingly's The Ballad of Lulu and Dad (Artistic New Directions); Zack Calhoon's Paint (On the Square Productions); and Tulpa, or Anne & Me (Crossroads Theatre Project). Member - Women's Project Producers' LAB (2008-2010).
 
FLUX THEATRE ENSEMBLE produces transformative theatre that explores and awakens the capacity for change. Flux is the proud recipient of two NYC Fringe Festival Awards: in 2007 the Village Voice Audience Favorite Award for August Schulenburg's Riding the Bull and in 2008 for Heather Cohn's "Outstanding Direction" of Other Bodies. In 2008 nytheatre.com chose Flux Theatre Ensemble as one of their "People of the Year" saying "This rising theatre company had a hit in the New York International Fringe Festival with Other Bodies, written by Artistic Director August Schulenburg, and then went on to mount the fall's most ambitious indie show, Johnna Adams's Angel Eaters Trilogy." Flux received a Citation for Excellence in Off-Off Broadway Theatre from the Independent Theater Bloggers Association and seven New York Innovative Theatre Award nominations for The Angel Eaters Trilogy including a win for Outstanding Sound Design. In 2010, director Heather Cohn was nominated for a New York Innovative Theatre Award for The Lesser Seductions of History and Flux's 2011 production of Liz Duffy Adams' Dog Act received two nominations for Outstanding Actress in a Featured Role (Becky Byers) and Outstanding Set Design (Jason Paradine). The New York Innovative Theatre Awards also awarded the prestigious 2011 Caffé Cino Fellowship Award to Flux for consistently producing outstanding work.
