Amas Musical Theatre, Donna Trinkoff/Producing Artistic Director, will present a developmental workshop production of SIGNS OF LIFE: A TALE OF TEREZIN, music by Joel Derfner, lyrics by Len Schiff, book by Peter Ullian, directed by Jeremy Dobrish, on Tuesday, April 28 at 7:30 pm, Wednesday, April 29, at 7:30 pm, and Thursday, April 30 at 3:00 pm at the Actors Playhouse, 100 Seventh Avenue South.
Signs of Life: A Tale of Terezin is an exploration of life in the Jewish artists' ghetto created by the Nazis in the Czech town of Terezin during World War II. Hitler renamed it Theresienstadt and his propaganda cynically proclaimed it "A City for the Jews".
"What a story Signs of Life: A Tale of Terezin tells", says Amas Producing Artistic Director Donna Trinkoff. "From the cultural ferment and the poisonous politics of the prewar era, to the creation of the ghetto itself, with its population of extraordinary characters, book writer Peter Ullian (Elliot Ness in Cleveland, The Flight of the Lawnchair Man) has managed to create a world of tragic heroes. And what music! Composer Joel Derfner's klezmer-infused score is thrilling, and Len Schiff's lyrics are perfect evocations of story and era. This is a deeply moving story of love, remembrance, and the power of art".
The cast includes Eric Collins, Sarah Davis, Leo Ash Evans, Zach Lalley, David Hibbard, William Parry, Noah Ruff, Jason Michael Snow, and Carl N. Wallnau. Music Direction is by Matt Castle.
