Wolf Trap Summer 2010 Winds Down With LOTR

By:

The Return of the King, the epic finale of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, makes its U.S. premiere at Wolf Trap on huge HD screens in house and on the lawn, accompanied by a live symphony orchestra, chorus, and soloists set to perform the entire Academy Award-winning score by composer Howard Shore. This finalizes the trilogy, on the heels of the 2008 showing of The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers in 2009. Following its original release, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King became a historic box-office success, currently ranking as the second highest-grossing movie of all time. Additionally, it won all 11 Academy Awards for which it was nominated, and is the first fantasy film to have won for Best Picture. It also won another 106 awards and was nominated for 68 others, including four Golden Globe awards and two GRAMMYs.

Jackson Browne
Singer/songwriter Jackson Browne arrives at Wolf Trap for the second time for an evening of his signature folk-rock classics. An inductee into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Songwriter's Hall of Fame, Browne is well known for masterfully written folk songs with a clear point of view, both politically and personally. His newest live album, Love is Strange, is a collaboration with friend and colleague David Lindley which details their 2006 tour through Spain alongside percussionist Tino di Geraldo. The Washington Examiner praised the release, stating the "dual acoustic guitar work between Browne and Lindley is a beautiful thing." With this album Browne has come full circle in his career, remaining as relevant today in the folk-rock scene as he was in the '70s.

David Lindley
Multi-instrumentalist David Lindley makes his debut at Wolf Trap supporting and performing with Jackson Browne. Lindley is known for his very unique brand of music, incorporating a large array of musical styles and instruments from lap steel-guitar to Turkish saz and Irish bouzouki. Lindley has added his one-of-a-kind string playing to the albums of many artists, including Bob Dylan and James Taylor. His unique sound, meticulous musicianship, and charismatic personality has endeared him to a legion of dedicated fans.
