Jennifer Simard has been turning heads all Spring, playing the distraught 'Sister Mary' in DISASTER. The show played its last performance yesterday at the Nederlander Theatre, but that hasn't stopped fans from a social media campaign calling for an appearance by the Best Feature Actress nominee at the Tony Awards. BroadwayWorld pal Annoying Actor Friend (@Actor_Friend) started the campaign, tweeting "CBS should cut a commercial break on @TheTonyAwards for THIS. #PutSimardOn."
Of course, usually performances on the broadcast are limited to Best Musical and Best Revival of a Musical nominees, but exceptions have bene made in the past. Just last year, there were additional performances from the casts of Finding Neverland, It Shoulda Been You and Gigi.
Join the cause with the hashtag: #PutSimardOn.
I did not campaign for a presidential candidate but will 100% campaign for the @TheTonyAwards to #PutSimardOn. This is important.
