The mega-blockbuster hit musical Wicked
is back and flying on Broadway beginning tonight, Thursday November 29 at The Gershwin Theatre (222 West 51st Street).
Plus, the musical has added an extra performance this Sunday December 2 at 8PM. Proceeds from this special performance will
benefit The Actors Fund, the national non-profit organization that provides
help and support for everyone in the entertainment industry.
Each year, Broadway companies add an extra performance to
their already rigorous schedules in support of The Actors Fund. At these performances, the members of the
cast and company donate their time and talent – performing and working without
pay – so that the money raised from that night's ticket sales can be donated to
The Fund.
This is a tradition that began 80 years ago and continues
today – a fine example of the Broadway community pitching in to take care of their
own. The unions, producers, theatre
operators and members of the following organizations make these special
performances possible – Actors' Equity Association, Associated Musicians of
Greater New York – Local 802 AFM, Association of Theatrical Press Agents and
Managers, Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers and the United Scenic
Artists Union.
Tickets for Sunday's added performance are available through
Ticketmaster at 212-307-4100 or 800-755-4000 or at The Gershwin Theatre box
office, 222 West 51st Street
between Broadway and 8th Avenue.
Tickets prices range from $61.25 to $251.25.
