White Castle 29th Annual Brooklyn-Kingsboro Arm Wrestling Championships Take Place 8/28

The Brighton Neighborhood Association and New York Arm Wrestling Association have joined forces to present the White Castle 29th Annual Brooklyn-Kingsboro Arm Wrestling Championships at the Brighton Jubilee Festival on Sunday, August 28 beginning 1:00 p.m. The event will be staged F/O 3264 Coney Island Ave.(off Brighton Beach Avenue and 11th Street), Brooklyn, NY 11235. The proud sponsor is White Castle.

More than 100 men and women are expected to compete for the prestigious Brooklyn-Kingsboro Arm Wrestling titles. The best male and female overall winners receive $100 cash prizes and will be crowned Brooklyn's Strongest Arm. Contestants should register and weigh-in between 9:30 a.m. and before 12:45 p.m., as the event begins in front of a live, cheering audience at 1:00 p.M. Sharp; the final matches begin at 3:30 p.m. and spectators have the opportunity to watch the event for free.

Entry fees for contestants are $25 for men and $20 for women and include a FREE White Castle Arm Wrestling T-shirt. Weight Classes are divided into right and left hand categories for both amateurs and pros. Awards are given to first, second and third place and winners are invited to compete at the 34th AnnuAl White Castle Empire State 'Golden Arm' Tournament of Champions Final to be held at the Port Authority Bus Terminal on November 17, 2011.

The Brooklyn-Kingboro Arm Wrestling Championships brings together locals from the five NYC Boroughs, Long Island and tri-state, but also draws contestants from as far away as Turkey, Brazil, Russia and other distant lands, according to Gene Camp, Founder and President of the New York Arm Wrestling Association. Camp said, "We expect some of the world's best arm wrestlers to compete for this unique Brooklyn Strong Arm title." The defending winners of last year's Brooklyn Strongest Arms are NYC's King of Arms Giorgi Gelashvili from Sheepshead Bay and NYC's Queen of Arms Joyce Boone from Carroll Gardens, who are both from Brooklyn and currently ranked as the best male and female arm wrestlers in New York State. Both are expected to defend their titles.

Pat Singer, the Executive Director and founder of the Brighton Neighborhood Association said, "We are very excited to celebrate the 29th Anniversary of the popular Brooklyn-Kingsboro Arm Wrestling Championships at the Brighton Jubilee Festival. Spectators have the opportunity to watch some awesome feats of strength while strolling through one of the oldest and largest festivals in Brooklyn." Fans may visit the festival by taking public transportation; the Q subway or B1 and B68 buses stop at Brighton Beach Avenue.

The New York 'Golden Arm Series consists of six individual championships and a State final.
