Wheelock Family Theatre Announces Season, PHANTOM TOLLBOOTH To Open

Wheelock Family Theatre has been recognized both locally and nationally for its commitment to accessible, multi-cultural, multi-generational productions for all families. Recognized by the Boston Theatre Critic's Association and the Independent Reviewers of New England in 2011 for 30 years of excellence, Wheelock Family Theatre has also been hailed as a Massachusetts treasure, receiving the 2005 Commonwealth Award and a leader in access programs for people with disabilities receiving the Kennedy Center's LEAD Award. Wheelock Family Theatre's early commitment to diversity in Boston theatre was recognized in 2000 by Actor's Equity Association's with its presentation of the Rosetta LeNoire Award.

THE PHANTOM TOLLBOOTH October 21 - November 20, 2011
The ever bored Milo must restore Rhyme and Reason to the Kingdom of Wisdom!
This thrilling musical adaptation is onstage just in time to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Norton Juster's award-winning book.
Directed by Jane Staab. Scenic design by Matthew Lazure. Lighting by Frank Meissner. Costumes by Lisa Simpson. With Jeffrey Sewell as Milo and Michael Woods as Toc.

THE WIZARD OF OZ January 27 - February 26, 2012
A young girl's journey to a fantastic world restores her faith in the pleasures of home. Adapted from the beloved film; with the songs and characters the world has come to love!
Directed by James P. Byrne. Scenic design by James P. Byrne & Charles G. Baldwin. Lighting by Frank Meissner. Costumes by Melissa Miller. With Katherine Doherty as Dorothy.

THE MIRACLE WORKER April 13 - May 13, 2012
The inspiring story of Helen Keller and her devoted teacher, Annie Sullivan. This prize-winning play illustrates our very human need to connect and to communicate.
Directed by Susan Kosoff. Scenic design by Janie Howland. Lighting by Scott Clyve. Costumes by Lisa Simpson.

Wheelock Family Theatre will partner once again with BalletRox for their seasonal spectacular in December 2011, Urban Nutcracker.
The classic Tchaikovsky with an inner-city edge; presented by Boston's BalletRox! Featuring the professional ballet company and more than 70 local children. A holiday tradition!
