Bernie Williams is best known for slugging it out of the park as a record-setting player for the New York Yankees, but it turns out that a baseball bat isn't the only instrument that he wields with skill and precision. A classically trained guitarist and Latin Grammy nominated musician, Williams plays and composes music with influences that include jazz, classical, pop, Brazilian, and Latin sounds.
His most recent album, Moving Forward, features guest appearances by Bruce Springsteen, Jon Secada, Dave Koz, and an All-Star cast of renowned studio musicians. Moving Forward debuted as Billboard's #2 Contemporary Jazz album in the country, and continued to hold that chart position for five straight weeks, spawning two consecutive Billboard #1 singles, Go For It, and Ritmo de Otono. The album was nominated for a Latin Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Album in 2009.
On Monday July 16 at Westchester's Ridge Hill in Yonkers, Bernie Williams will be playing a free show from 6-8 PM as part of the Ridge Hill's summer concert series. Learn more about Bernie Williams at http://www.bernie51.com/.
