Walnut Street Hosts FIT FOR A KING! Annual Auction 10/28

Walnut Street Theatre hosts 12th Annual Auction: Fit for a King! This year, the auction will be hosted by NBC 10's Terry Ruggles and will feature a special appearance by the cast of Walnut Street Theatre's production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's The King and I. The event will take place on October 28, 2011 at Walnut Street Theatre with a Silent Auction beginning at 6:00pm followed by a Live Auction at 8:00pm. This magnificent event will benefit the crowning achievements of the Walnut's award-winning Education Department. The Walnut invites guests to a royal evening that's Fit for a King!

Guests will enjoy festive food and drink, play exciting games and get a jump start on their holiday shopping with gifts that are Fit for a King...and queen. With over 200 fabulous items up for grabs, guests are sure to find something for every prince and princess on their holiday gift list. Auction items include fine dining gift certificates, premium sports tickets, one-of-a-kind jewelry, kitchen gadgets, kids' toys, Broadway show tickets, exclusive getaway packages and much more! All of the evening's proceeds will benefit the Walnut's Education Department, which is celebrating another record-breaking year of success. The Education Department's programs include the Touring Outreach Company, which uses theatre to broach important social issues with students at local schools; the Adopt-a-School program, a 3-year partnership with a Philadelphia public school that develops an unique theatre curriculum and encourages participation from students, faculty and parents; the Professional Apprentice program, which provides hands-on training for young theatre professionals, and the Walnut Street Theatre School, which offers classes for children, teens and adults year-round. With support from individuals in the community, over 110,000 local students participated in the Walnut's various educational programs last year alone.

Fit for a King is sure to be the royal event of the season! Tickets are $35 in advance or $40 at the door.
