Walker Art Center Announces 2011-2012 Season
The Walker's 2011-2012 season kicks off in September with DESPAIR BE DAMNED and and continues its ongoing commitment to developing contemporary performance by commissioning six new works, including Big Dance Theatre's SUPERNATURAL WIFE, poet Ann Carson's adaptation of Euripide's ALKESTIS, and HUSSEIN, by Spalding Gray award-winning performer Rabih Mroué.
Other highlights include the return of the Out There series, a four-event performance festival, and the A Merce Cunningham Celebration, a 10-day festival of dance works, discussions, and workshops dedicated to the legendary innovator of modern dance. The festival includes a final performance of the Merce Cunningham Dance Company before the troupe disbands at the end of 2011.
