And a Happy Birthday shout-out to Sting, who turns 64 today!
Sting's THE LAST SHIP debuted on Broadway last year and nabbed him a Tony nomination for Best Original Score. Before that, he starred in 3 PENNY OPERA and his music was featured in ROCK 'N ROLL: THE FIRST 5,000 YEARS. The songwriter, musician, activist, actor and philanthropist was the lead singer and bassist for the Police in the late '70s ad early '80s, before launching his solo career. In total, Sting has received 16 Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe, an Emmy and three Oscar nominations for Best Original Song. He is included in the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and was celebrated at last year's Kennedy Center Honors.
