By: Robert Diamond
Ulterior Motives will showcase six short plays about less-than-straightforward characters, written and produced by members of the Village Playwrights, New York's Lesbian and Gay playwrights collective.
An undergrad seeking advice about how to break up with her boyfriend stumbles into new complications in "THE BREAK UP" by K.S. Stevens.Discontented movie extras mix bad food and sharp barbs while "coaching" a closeted gay star in George Bistransin's farcical "JUMBO SHRIMP.""NOW WHAT?" by Andrew Velez is a glimpse into a married couple's bedroom on a seemingly ordinary evening that turns incendiary.Bill Koch's "ROOMMATES" finds two men whose long, loving relationship is upended by addiction and impending death.Gwen Baer's new comedy "EDGY IN DA HOUSE" features a lesbian stand-up comedian who makes Lenny Bruce sound like Mary Poppins. In a sleazy gay bar at the end of the night, three guys have traffic problems sorting out who's picking up whom in George Bistransin's comedy "LAST CALL."ULTERIOR MOTIVES will be presented in the Wings Theater, 154 Christopher Street, New York City at 8 PM on Tuesday, January 27 and Wednesday, January 28.
