VidCast: Chicago Wicked Celebrates 1000th Performance
NEW BLOCK OF TICKETS GOES ON-SALE NOVEMBER 14
On Wednesday, November 14 at 7:30 p.m., Chicago's record-breaking Wicked will mark a new milestone as the curtain goes up on its 1,000th performance. Breaking multiple box office records since opening, Wicked is the top grossing and longest running Broadway show in Chicago history and continually casts spell on Chicagoans and visitors from around the world night after night. With 189 performances after November 14 still on-sale, the date will also celebrate the public on-sale for a new block of tickets covering performances from January 27 - April 27, 2008.
By the 1000th performance, Chicago's Wicked will have performed to over 2 million people and grossed over $140 million at the box office. Even more remarkable is the production's growing status as a destination for tourists and visitors. Wicked's audience in Chicago routinely represents all 50 states and many foreign countries.
Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the land of Oz. One, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. Wicked tells the story of their remarkable odyssey, how these two unlikely friends grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch.
