Victim's Father Attends The Columbine Project In LA

By:

Darrell Scott, father of Rachel Scott one of the first victims of the 1999 massacre at Columbine High-school attended "The Columbine Project" in Los Angeles on Saturday, calling it "Wonderful" and "Deeply Moving" Mr. Scott joined in a talk back with the cast and audience who also included American Idol Top 10 contestant Stefano Langoni

Darrell Scott established Rachel's Challenge as a non- profit organization to perpetuate his daughter's example and the two-page "Code of Ethics" she wrote a month before her death. Its mission statement is to "motivate, educate and bring positive change to many young people".

The drama focuses on the massacre at Columbine High School that left thirteen people -- twelve of them students -- dead. The Columbine Project explores the tragic event from various perspectives before, after, and during that tragic day of April 20, 1999.

The Columbine Project features an excitingly talented cast starring Stacy Allen , Chris Arvan, Riley Bodenstab, Scott Chesak, Joe Cisternelli, Evan Cuthbert, Kristina Diamantoni, Carson Higgins, Kimberly Jurgen, Paige Kimball, Jack Millard, Bree Pavey, Matthew Powell, Morgan Roberts, Rich Skidmore, Ashley Sugarman, Sara Swain, Pamela Taylor, and Paul Woolfolk.

Crystal Woodman Miller , survivor of the incident and author of "Marked for Life," said of the play: "From beginning to end, it grips you and won't let go. 'The Columbine Project' is captured with honesty and beauty in a raw and gritty portrayal."

Randall Wallace, writer of "Braveheart," said of "The Columbine Project"; "If every High-School in America could see this play, it would change the whole country - and the world!"

Following its world premiere in April 2009, The Columbine Project was extended twice in Los Angeles. When the play moved to New York in July 2009, the Off-Broadway production was extended three times, running for three months at the Actors Temple Theatre in Times Square. The script was a course study at the University of Utah last spring and two of its monologues are featured in annual "2010 The Best Women's Stage Monologues and Scenes" published by Smith and Krause, now in bookstores nationwide.
The Columbine Project garnered five 2009 VAlley Theatre League Artistic Director Achievement Awards: Best Director of a Drama, Best Supporting Actress, Best Lead Actor, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Stage Manager.

StageSceneLA's 2009 "Best of List" heralds The Columbine Project as Best World Premiere and Best Ensemble in its original run.

The Columbine Project plays Friday's and Saturday's at 8:00 pm with an additional performance Thursday May 5th.
