Vetere's 'Machiavelli' Reading at Hayworth 9/24

By:

Ray Abruzzo, Richard Portnow, Paul Ben Victor, Robert Cicchini and Stacy Cole star in a staged reading of Machiavelli, Monday, September 24 at 8PM at The Hayworth.  Directed by Dan Lauria and written by Pulitzer Prize nominated playwright Richard Vetere, Machiavelli, is a production of The Hayworth Theatre's popular Bruno Kirby Celebrity Reading Series.

"Machiavelli opens with Alfonso (Paul Ben Victor), a Major in the service of military police in Florence, addressing the audience. Set in Florence in the early 1500's, Vetere's Machiavelli is a witty comedy with bite about the great political thinker and his equally clever wife, Marietta (Stacy Cole).  Within a constantly changing world of intrigue, they must use their wits to navigate the outrageous whims and violent behavior of Giuliano (Robert Cicchini) and Lorenzo (Richard Portnow) of the Medicis, as well as  their own daughter's shocking rebellion," describe press notes, "Should Machiavelli (Ray Abruzzo) help his sworn enemy, the Medici family, in order to help his own family survive to fight another day…or confront them and put all their lives in jeopardy?  When the trials and tribulations of the Renaissance rule the day, it isn't always enough to be Machiavellian… even for Machiavelli."

Machiavelli will be presented on the Main Stage for one performance, Monday, September 24 at 8PM.  The Hayworth Theatre is located at 2509 Wilshire Blvd. two blocks east of Rampart near downtown Los Angeles.

All Tickets $15.00. For reservations visit www.thehayworth.com or call 213-389-9860
