They're the country's only all-female touring stand-up comedy troupe. And they do their hilarious thing right here in Vermont. The Vermont Comedy Divas will bring their irreverent comedy to Middlebury's Town Hall tonight, June 14.

Founded in 2006, the five-woman group not only performs in theaters and clubs, but enjoys taking part in fund-raisers for area non-profits. The THT show will benefit Foster & Adoptive Families.

Josie Leavitt got her start in New York City, playing clubs like Caroline's and Stand-Up New. Since moving to Vermontshe has performed all over the state. She also happens to be co-owner of the Flying Pig Bookstore.

Tracie Spencer was selected to perform in Boston's Women's Comedy Festival, and has been a finalist in the Higher Ground Comedy Battles for four years.

Autumn Ingroff Spencer has been doing stand-up for four years. She lives in Burlington with her handsome husband and two "hilarious" children.

Sue Schmidt has performed throughout the country and sidelines as a drummer. Carmen Lagala was crowned the winner of the Higher Ground Comedy Battle in 2013, and is a co-founder of Levity, Vermont's only comedy club.

"We're doing more and more comedy here," says THT executive director Douglas Anderson," because audiences love it and our theater is a great place for it. We have a cash bar and people can sit at tables, and it really does have the feeling of a New York comedy club."

Vermont Comedy Divas will perform at Middlebury's Town Hall Theater on Friday, June 14 at 8 pm. Cash bar and snacks available. Adult humor. Tickets may be purchased at www.townhalltheater.org, 802 382-9222, at the THT Box office (Mon-Sat, noon-5 pm) and at the door.
