For the first time, global superstar Jennifer Lopez and Tony Award winner Lin-Manuel Miranda, creator of Broadway's HAMILTON, performed their new duet "Love Make the World Go Round" live on the TODAY plaza this morning. All proceeds from the song will go to the Hispanic Federation's Proyecto Somos Orlando to benefit the victims of the Pulse nightclub shooting. In the audience were 50 survivors of the Orlando shooting and their families.
Following the performance, Miranda and Lopez spoke to TODAY about the song. Explained Lopez, "I've had this song 'Love Make the World Go Round' for maybe eight months, and I loved the song, I loved the hook, and when everything happened in Orlando I kind of heard it in a different way and I was like 'the world needs this right now.'"
