It was the semi-finals round on ABC's DANCING WITH THE STARS! Former DWTS pro dancer Maks Chmerkovskiy returned to the ballroom but this time as a guest judge, and the couples had to perform two routines to completely different versions of the same song.
"Getting a Perfect Score last week was the best part of the competition for me, so far" said Corbin Bleu prior to the performance, "but Elizabeth got a Perfect Score and she went home, so no one is safe." The couple danced the Tango to the Fall Out Boys 'Light Em Up' for Round 1.
Declared Bruno, "Fire and brimstone - the power of exploding volcano! You had so much drive, so much passion that it was almost untamable. You lost the frame at times but it was brilliant"
Agreed Carrie Ann, "I'd like to see that again. I never saw a Tango with that much fury! You really delivered."
Added Maks, "I thought it was amazing. Content was amazing - it was two routines worth of Tango - that's the kind of Tango that I like!"
Only Len had negative comments to share with the couple, saying, "Corbin, this isn't Manic Monday - it was too full on. Tango is about calmness and attack and then back to calm. This was all attack - you're frame got too wide - it was not my cup of tea."
The couple received a 35 out of 40 in Round 1.
Corbin and Karina danced a Rumba in Round 2 of the competition. Prior to the dance, Corbin shared that he was offered a spot at Stanford University just at the time he was offered a role in High School Musical. While it was a tough decision, his passion for acting and entertaining won out.
Following the performance, Bruno shared, "from hell into Heaven! The quality of movement was unbelievable. And all the time, so deeply felt."
Said Carrie Ann, "Corbin, all I could think was, 'Your body is a Wonderland.' I'm so glad you took your shirt off, for obvious reasons, but also because we got to see every undulation in your body."
Joked Maks, "you're body's not a wonderland to me, but... that was amazing congratulations."
Agreed Len, "I"m telling you, that was a great number!"
The couple received a Perfect Score of 40 for Round 2 which gave them a 75 for the night. They will move on to the Finals next week.
