(*) Please note that the auditions Saturday, April 30 are intended for college students who have final exam conflicts May 2 and May 3. Those who are offered a CALL BACK will need to plan on attending Wednesday, May 4.

AUDITION INFORMATION
Roles are available for approximately 30 teenagers as well as adult men and women ages 14 and up.
This production of All Shook Up requires a diverse cast and provides great opportunity for featured African American actors/singers/dancers.
Those wishing to audition should prepare 16-30 bars of a memorized vocal selection of a contemporary musical theatre or rock song that shows off your vocal abilities. An accompanist will be provided. A Cappella singing is NOT recommended.
Following the vocal audition, a dance combination will be taught by the show's choreographer. Please be prepared to dance and dress comfortably. No flip-flops or baggy sweats. All Shook Up is a dance musical. Everyone will be required to participate in the dance audition.
Please bring a list of all definite and potential conflicts during the May-July time frame.
Headshot and resume (a list of theatrical experience) is appreciated but not required.
Please be familiar with the show before auditioning. The director may ask you for a cold read during your audition.
Rehearsals begin late May.

All Shook Up tells the story of a square little town in the middle of a square state in the middle of a square decade where a lonely young girl dreams of hitting the open road. Into her life rides a guitar-playin' roustabout who changes everything. Combining all-time favorite Elvis hits with a healthy dose of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, All Shook Up is surefire fun for rock 'n' roll fans of all ages!

Production Information
All Shook Up runs July 22-24 and July 29-31, 2011 at the Stanly County Agri-Civic Center in Albemarle, NC. The show will be directed by Jack Stevenson and choregraphed by Eddie Mabry. Angela Moore serves as music director.

Character Breakdown
Chad (20 - early 30's) Roustabout, good looks, owns the stage. Must be able to move well. Rock voice. Think of Birdie making the town faint, but nicer. Vocal type- Baritone or Tenor, at least a G# top (ideally falsetto E, and Belted B)

Natalie Haller (18 - 30) Somewhat of a tomboy. Great voice. Vocal type- high belt, or great power mix.

Dennis (Early 20's-30's) an awkward young man, kinda geeky, He aspires to be a dentist. Loves Natalie. Vocal type- Tenor

Sylvia (40 - 55) African-American. Smart, quick-witted with Sass. Vocal type- Alto/high belt (ideally belted or mixed E)

Miss Sandra (Late 20's-Mid 30's) Sexy, sultry and smart. The caretaker of the town's museum. Vocal type- Alto (good belt, ideally E top)

Jim Haller (40+) Affable and good natured. Good voice (Natalie's dad). Vocal type- bass/ baritone

Lorraine (17-25) Sylvia's daughter. Pretty, smart and total romantic. Must have great voice and dance well. Vocal type- Alto with solid B belt and popped D belt

Mayor Matilda Hyde (40-55) Bossy and opinionated. Strong vocals. Vocal type-- Alto- good belt

Dean Hyde (18-25) Mayor's son. Never disobeyed his mother. Clean cut, great voice. Must dance well. Vocal type-- Baritone

Sheriff Earl (40 - 65) Always at the Mayor's side. Hardly talks until the end. Must be good non-verbal actor. Vocal type-Baritone voice

Ensemble (8-10 males & females) Late teens to early 30's.They play an assortment of Townspeople and must be strong dancers and singers and be highly skilled at harmonies.
