Usdan Center Presents SELECT ART SHOW, 8/3

By:

The SELECT ART SHOW is an opening of visual art exhibit with work by junior and senior art students.

Usdan Center, now in its 45th season, was once more named a “Best Camp for 2012” by TimeOut New York/Kids.  It has introduced the arts to more than 60,000 Tri-State Area children since its founding in 1968. Among its alumni are Natalie Portman, Olivia Thirlby, Mariah Carey and Jane Monheit. The Center, on a 200-acre woodland setting at 185 Colonial Springs Road in Huntington, is open to all young people from age 6 to 18. No audition is needed for most programs. Each summer, 1,600 students are transported to the Center in air-conditioned buses every day. One-third of Usdan’s students attend on scholarship.

The SELECT ART SHOW will run for a week.

Usdan’sArt Department majors choose one discipline to explore in depth. Students workin studios designed for their medium and learn from working artists who arespecialists in their fields. Studios feature large skylights as well as indoorand outdoor courtyards to take advantage of natural light and the inspirationof nature. Program levels range from the Discovery Program for 6-year-olds, to the pre-professional Portfolio Preparation program, preparing students for college artstudies. The Portfolio Prep students were exhibited this year at Manhattan’s The Lobby Gallery and at The Atrium at Tilles Center for the Performing Arts.

The show will run on Friday, August 3, 10:30AM-11:30AM and 1:30PM – 2:30PM at the Usdan Center for the Creative and Performing Arts (www.usdan.com), 185 Colonial Springs Road,Wheatley Heights (Huntington) Long Island 11798 (in the main gallery, Art Department).
