Un-Common Announces SPRING AWAKENING Auditions

The Un-Common Theatre Co. is extremely excited to announce that The Un-Common Young Adult Company will be one of the first Amateur Theatre Companies in the US to present the much acclaimed Broadway Musical SPRING AWAKENING.

SPRING AWAKENING is a rock musical adaptation of the controversial 1891 German play of the same title by Frank Wedekind which was, for a time, banned in Germany. It features music by Duncan Sheik and a book and lyrics by Steven Sater. Set in late-19th century Germany, this show tells the story of teenagers who are discovering the inner and outer tumult of sexuality. SPRING AWAKENING received eleven 2007 Tony Award nominations, winning eight, including Tonys for best musical, direction, book, score and featured actor. The show also won four Drama Desk Awards, while its London production won four Olivier Awards. SPRING AWAKENING celebrates the unforgettable journey from youth to adulthood with a power, poignancy, and passion that you will never forget.

Auditions will be held for students ages 16 - 21 only (photo ID or birth certificate required for proof of age) on Sunday May 22nd, 2011 from 1pm by appointment only in Foxboro, MA with call backs on Monday May 23rd, 2011 at 6:30pm in Mansfield, MA. If you are physically unable to attend the auditions please contact us by email for information on presenting a video audition.

Rehearsals will be held mostly on Monday and Tuesday evenings in Mansfield and Foxboro and Sunday afternoons in Foxboro starting May 31st. The show will be performed at The Orpheum Theater in Foxboro, MA July 21 - 24, 2011.
