Umbilical Bros Return To NYC With Physical/Vocal Comedy SPEED MOUSE 6/29-7/11

No, they don't pirouette, plié or pas de chat, but audiences are sure to end up rolling with laughter in the aisles when The Umbilical Brothers (David Collins and Shane Dundas) tear up the stage of The Joyce Theater from June 29 - July 11 with their madcap style of physical and vocal mayhem in SPEED MOUSE. Following this two-week engagement, the duo will play Connecticut's Hartford Stage from July 15 - August 2. Tickets for the NYC run at The Joyce Theater start at $19 and can be purchased through Joyce.org or by calling (212) 242-0800.

With their mouths in constant motion, the highly theatrical Umbilical Brothers are an unusual booking for The Joyce, but SPEED MOUSE is sure to delight all audiences. Astonishing physical comedy and gasp-inducing entertainment SPEED MOUSE is simultaneously childish, reckless and sneakily sophisticated. (SPEED MOUSE may not be suitable for younger audiences.)

This legendary Aussie pair comes to The Joyce Theater hot off the heels of a highly acclaimed international tour and a successful stint on Nickelodeon's "Upside Down Show." Their last stop in New York garnered a New York Drama Desk nomination and a celebrity fan club that includes the likes of Eric Idle, Bette Midler and Robin Williams. They've performed everywhere from Tokyo to Vancouver to Frankfort, appeared on late night talk shows ("The Late Show with David Letterman" and "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno"), and their trophy cabinet includes two BAFTAs, an Edinburgh Fringe First Award and a Critics' Choice Award for Comedy.

SPEED MOUSE will also feature participation by the world-renown "Roadie" in addition to Mr. Collins (the one with the curly hair) and Mr. Dundas (the one who is not the one with the curly hair). So expect the unexpected as The Umbilicals unleash their wild and surreAl Verbal antics in SPEED MOUSE at The Joyce this summer (and later at Harford Stage). While no professional dancers are promised up on stage, you can at least expect audience members to wind up laughing in the aisles.

SOME MORE INFORMATION ON THE UMBILICAL BROTHERS
Curious fans often ask, "Where do those guys come from?", and then "Can they go back there?" So, in response to a couple of requests, we asked The Umbilical Brothers to sit down and write something serious about themselves. With this in mind, they set about composing the paragraph you are about to read:
"After severAl Weeks of creative meetings and consultations with famous writers we managed to come up with the words you are presently perusing. However, some of the adjectives we used to describe ourselves cannot be printed, as they are potentially libelous. The Umbilical Brothers have no intention to sue themselves and so must terminate the paragraph here. We hope this has clarified any questions you may have had."

SPEED MOUSE, by The Umbilical Brothers (David Collins and Shane Dundas) will play the following schedule at The Joyce Theater from June 29 - July 11: Monday - Wednesday at 7:30pm; Thursday - Friday at 8pm; Saturday at 2pm & 8pm. Tickets are $19-$49 ($19-$37 Joyce members) and are available by calling JoyceCharge at 212-242-0800 or at www.Joyce.org. Please note: Ticket prices subject to change. The Joyce Theater is located at 175 Eighth Avenue at 19th Street. For more info, please visit www.UmbilicalBrothers.com.
