The Matilda The Musical national tour kicked off the 2015/16 season at Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre last night, where it plays through September 6, 2015. While the show doesn't officially open until August 20, theatre-goers were distressed after Tuesday night's first preview, when the show reportedly struggled to make it to the final bow. The performances began a whopping hour and a half late, keeping guests waiting outside without an explanation from the staff.
An official statement from 5th Avenue Theatre reads: "Thanks to everyone for your continued support of The 5th Avenue and your love of theater. As everyone knows with live theater-anything can happen, and last night that came true, with technical issues affecting this very complex show. The crew has been working around the clock since last night to assure that the remainder of the performances will run without a hitch, so everyone will be able to enjoy this amazing Tony Award winning production. If you were at last nights performance, and have questions or would like a refund or exchange, please call 206-625-1900 to speak to one of our ticketing representatives or email ticketing@5thavenue.org"
UPDATE: BroadwayWorld has just learned that the show went up on time last night, August 19, without any technical difficulties.
