Academy Award winning actress Jennifer Hudson continues her arc on Season Two of NBC's musical drama series SMASH this week with a music-filled episode showcasing the many marvelous sides of the triple-threat star's ample abilities.
A spirited "I Got Love" from PURLIE as well as the masterful original Marc Shaiman/Scott Wittman ballad "I Can't Let Go" are both available now to hear in full!
Originally introduced by theatrical powerhouse Melba Moore - who went on to win a well-deserved Tony Award for Best Featured Actress In A Musical for her role in the show - PURLIE's "I Got Love" is the thrilling opener to the episode, which is ostensibly all about the creation of a one-woman solo show on Broadway for superstar Rebecca Moore (Hudson). Later on in the episode, we are also treated to a remix of the song byway of a Bob Fosse-esque "Steam Heat"-tinged iteration, complete with sexy, quirky, syncopated instrumentation and choreography.
Additionally, the remarkably powerful "I Can't Let Go" closes the entertaining episode on a glamourous high note.
