In a interview with Elle magazine, Dame Helen Mirren confirmed reports that she is in final negotiations to join Universal's FAST AND FURIOUS 8.
The award-winning actress did not reveal details on which character she will portray in the film. She joins previously announced cast members
Charlize Theron,
Scott Eastwood,
Vin Diesel,
Dwayne Johnson, Ludacris, Kurt Russell, Jason Statham and
Tyrese Gibson.
F. Gary Gray will take on directing duties while Neil Moritz and Diesel will produce. No plot details have been revealed for the project, now filming on location in Cleveland, Atlanta and Cuba. The film is set to hit theaters on April 14, 2017.
Last year, the actress received a Tony Award for Best Lead Actress in a Play for THE AUDIENCE. Mirren recently appeared on the big screen in "Woman in Gold" and "Trumbo," as well as in "Eye in the Sky" opposite
Aaron Paul and
Alan Rickman. She will next be seen in "Collateral Beauty" alongside
Will Smith.
